HELP. We are in Ireland now and it won't stop raining.

HELP! Today is day one of (what is forecasted to be) seven days of rain!!!
We are presently in Kenmare, have no resevations until Friday and would prefer to avoid Dublin. Any suggestions?

P.S. And yes, we have learned our lesson about traveling in the off-season. : )

Buy a good raincoat and enjoy the scenery. Get out a good guidebook or buy one.Find some interesting museums.Enjoy the pubs culture food and the people. Don't let rain ruin your holiday Other than bad weather everything you wanted to see and do(unless it's a hiking vacation)is all there. Remember the weatherman is often wrong!!

Let's see, if I was in Kenmare in the rain...There are lots of pubs in Dingle, you could go to Dingle next and dry out with the other wet folks in the pubs! AAroadwatch.ie says it's a 3-hour drive to Dingle. And there's the Blasket Island center in dingle, you could stay dry in there! Good luck

I have just read a big pile of guidebooks about Ireland but haven't been there yet, we're going next summer.

Is it flooding? Want to trade where you are for parts of Massachusetts, New Jersey, Louisiana, Mississippi or the Cayman Islands?

Sorry... I know that's a zinger of a question, with more than a bit of a mean streak in it... but you did start your message with...

"HELP!"

I hope you find much to love in Ireland this week. I feel certain that it's all there, almost 99% unchanged from how appealing it was a week ago, or a month ago.

Best wishes,

Rex

p.s. what IS your lesson about traveling in the off-season? I don't think there is one single lesson about traveling in the off-season.

If the rain doesn't let up at all for days, I'd head to a larger town. I love Kenmare , but if you can't sight see, I think I would go to Dublin. There is plenty to do if it rains all the time. I just don't think it will.

The last time I was in Ireland in fall it rained a lot more in the SouthWest than on the east coast. So my Plan-B advice would be to head north and east.

The 'Met Office' is in a new ballgame too: the first time a tropical storm has hit mainland Europe happened last week.

It rains in Ireland. That's why it's so green. What did you expect ?

Rain in Ireland? Hard to believe.
You might go to Tralee and look at the Earl of Desmond hotel. Play hunt the toilet handle, hunt for the light switchs, try turning on the TV with no help, see if it has any hot water for a shower, and find out how many cups of tea you can have with your dinner.
(One was what our group was told.)
Seriously, lots of good woolen mills about to look at. And shopping near the Blarnery Stone is great, particularly if you are in the market for crystal.

And the Cliffs of Moher are made even more mysterious by the rain and fog.

But, I know how you feel. Spend all the money and still get wet.

Even in summer, Ireland has about 20 rain days a month. I'm not sure what anyone would expect from Ireland other than rain.

Hi Kate,

Come North I live in Belfast and the weather over the past 4 days has been great for this time of year - Sunny during the day and cold at night.

The forecast for the next few days is similiar

You're in the Wrong part of the Country kate!!
I live in Dublin and today is the first rain for a good few days, we have had a really lovely few day, without any rain.
dont be minding the weather forecast, they are always wrong!

I suggest you travel up to Killarney, have a gander around, then sit yourself down in a nice cosy pub and have a few pints of the black stuff.
