Help!!!<BR>We are travelling to Ireland in late may for our honeymoon. We are really excited but the airfare that we have found so far is outrageous. Over $700 per person on most all the airlines.<BR>Maybe I'm just not internet savvy enough but I can't find a cheaper deal. Travelocity, expedia, etc. don't really offer any good deals.<BR>Does anybody have any suggestions???

Absolutely go to www.aerlingus.com (assuming you can conculde your trip by May 31).<BR><BR>And there are some geat deals for onward destinations as well (check out Vienna for $95 each way, non-stop; closer cities are even cheaper in several cases), for those looking to combine Ireland with a visit to other parts of Europe.<BR><BR>Of course, via ryanair.com you can also get from Ireland to almost everywhere.<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rex<BR>[email protected]<BR>

Also, try Iceland Air, they have some good rates to Ireland, usually.

if you don't mind a trip that's kind of a pain.. here is my suggestion.<BR>you can always get a cheap flight to london (try bestfares.com.. their flights to london are unbelievable.. you have to be a member but even with the $60 membership fee it's still cheaper than everything else) and then fly ryanair from london to dublin. ryan doesn't fly out of heathrow so you would have to fly into gatwick. i seem to recall the flights from gatwick to dublin are less than 50 pouns each way. now, if you REALLY want to save money, you can fly into heathrow, then take the bus to stansted airport (this is the &quot;pain&quot; part), and THEN to ireland. the flights from stansted to dublin are like 10 british pounds each way, or something ridiculously cheap like that.<BR><BR>good luck!<BR><BR>i hope to be doing the same thing you are in a few years from now..<BR>ireland for my honeymoon..<BR>sounds lovely.<BR><BR>i hope you don't have to leave too soon.

I have done exactly what Silvana suggests (fly to London, Ryanair to Dublin). But I think that for May, the fares to Dublin on Aerlingus are a better deal for many parts of the US.<BR><BR>Others have argued here that the cheap fares on bestfares.com can &quot;ALWAYS&quot; (?) be found elsewhere without paying the membership feeto bestfares. <BR><BR>Smarterliving.com does seem to list a lot of the same deals as are commonly mentioned for &quot;members only&quot; on bestfares.com<BR>

We went to Ireland in late May 2 years ago. We bid on Priceline and got a non-stop flight on Continental from Newark to Shannon. We bid $400.00, and with tax, I believe the tickets cost about $460.00 each. The only thing is, you don't get frequent flyer miles -- so what.

We are going on Aer Lingus in May from Pittsburgh. The fare is $538. Now remember, we are paying more for the trip because we must fly another carrier to connect to an Aer Lingus flight. But we made our reservations for the whole trip with Aer Lingus. You can do this, but not on their internet site. I believe the prices there are only from gateway cities. You must call them for a connect flight. <BR>If you can fly from one of their non stop destinations such as New York, Boston or Baltimore, for instance the fare is less expensive.<BR>I think we are paying about $138 of this trip for the Pitt/Boston part. We decided to go for the extra because we only have eight days and did not want to put in the extra time with connections from London.<BR> <BR>

Since its your honeymoon, you probably don't have much flexibility, but travelling mid-week is usually cheaper. Flights out of NY and Boston are typically cheapest, you could always start your honeymoon with a day or two in the Big Apple, then enter the opposite end of the universe in Ireland.<BR><BR>With Travelocity, set up a &quot;low fare finder&quot; where they send an e mail whenever the fare drops. Sometimes seats are limited, so getting early notice will get you the cheap seats. <BR>

We've just booked a flight from Baltimore to Manchester for a visit to relatives for the weekend, then back to Dublin for nine days flying back from Shannon to Baltimore for $918.22 for the two of us That is in May.Hope the fare is still available for you.

thanks for all the replies. i am currently looking at aerlingus. they seem to have the best deals. I'm wanting to fly out of albany, ny so it may cost a little more to get to one of their gateway cities.

If you are going out of Albany NY you realy shoud consider Boston it probally closer to you than JFK or Newark .

I'm topping b/c I'm not finding anything less than $700 (including Aer Lingus; flying from NYC to Dublin, and leaving from Shannon back to NYC). Is that unreasonable to expect any cheaper airfare?

Aer Lingus this week just announced their 1000 Welcomes program for $199 each way plus taxes. Go to their website for additional details www.aerlingus.com Taxes are about $50 plus with leaving from different airport and if you are flying on weekends might add a few dollars

Aer Lingus' website is absolute garbage--you really need to call them to get any reliable information.

Assuming you are near an aerlingus gateway city, you'll be able to beat that $700 depending on your flight dates--IF YOU HURRY. We tried to get the $358 round trip in June flights, but all were sold out within a week. For certain there are still dates in July for $398 (plus about $45 taxes/fees)--at least there were last night. Get to the website fast. True, it is not the most user friendly web site.
