dutyfree,
I felt the same way last year when we decided to book in Rapallo- there is very little mention of it in guide books or here. It is a resort area with a lot of older people and german tourists. However, as I previously stated, we liked it very much and close proximity and easy access to so many other areas. Check to see when it is market day and plan to stroll along the Promenade; I would have liked to have included Genoa, but ran out of time. A great restaurant in Manarola in the Cinque terre is Trattoria Porticciolo-wonderful seafood and pasta dishes.
