HELP TRYING TO CALL ENGLAND

Trying to fax application for private access to Stonehenge. They list their fax number as (01980) 623 465. I thought I should dial 011 44 then the number - doesn't work - operator believe it or not could not help me.
Thanks for your help.

Dial the 011 44 prefix then dial the number, but leave off the first zero in the 01980 part - just dial 1980. I had the same problem at first.

As Tada says

011 44 1980 623 465

Yes, in Europe you drop the first zero of the phone number when calling from outside of the country, except for Italy where you have to dial the zero as well.
