Help! travel time between Nerja and Malaga

Does anyone know how long it takes to drive from Nerja to Malaga? We would be traveling VERY early in the morning to make an 8am flight.

Travel time is an hour or so depending on where you are staying from Nerja to the airport. Keep in mind that you will have to return your rental car (that took longer than we expected) and will need about 90 minutes in the airport. Have you thought about driving to the airport the night before and finding a hotel there?

For whatever it is worth, when I returned my car at the Malaga airport in mid Feb there was nothing to do except park it and drop off the keys..the return area was very easy to find and an easy walk into the terminal.

we go every 5 weeks and allow 45 mins to an hour,if you are going that early unless it is in school holiday time it will be a breeze,as the airport will be fairly quiet allow maybe 10 to 15 mins for the car but i always drop the child bride off at the terminal and then meet her in the queue if you are worried give it 15 mins more but dont fret honestly you have plenty of time

Whew... thanks everyone. Thought might have to leave at 4 in the morning! Read something somewhere that it took 2 hours (maybe that was by bus) and sort of panicked a bit. We will be going monday morning Sept 5th.... Don't think that is any sort of holiday so I guess we are good. Called Auto Europe and they said that rental office might not be open that early but there is a drop box for the keys so I don't think car return will take too long. Now we just have to not get lost. :-)
