HELP, travel agent screwed up big time!!!!!
 

We need some help soon. We will be leaving on Mothers Day for 5 days in Madrid and then taking a train to Barcelona for a 7 day cruise on the Med. Our problem is when we land on the 23rd we cannot get back to the states for another three days. Our travel agent booked us at the Hotel Barcelona and now was told they overbooked and we no longer have reservations because of an expo in Barcelona. Se did however booked at another hotel at the tune of $200 per night. Does anyone know of a nice hotel not as expensive and close to the harbor. We are willing to pay up to $130 per night. Any suggestions? Needless to say this will be the last time we use her. Any and all help will be appreciated.

CJ, try the web site expedia.com you will find that you can get a map of the city, descriptions and prices of hotels in Barcelona to suit your budget, you can check there fo availability and even book the hotel through that site. Good Luck

Try www.hotelsearch.com for help in Barcelona. We had trouble there too. We thought we had a booking at the Colon. but they wouldn't answer our e-mails and faxes. Finally, our travel agent called and they said "Oops, sorry." We stayed at the Barcel(sp.?)Sant, a very modern and expensive hotel right at Sant train station. Other than the expense, it was great, since the subway (a very good one) was right there inside the building. Good luck. Barcelona is a wonderful city with lots of great things to do. It reminded us of San Franciso, and we love San Francisco.

Thanks John, we also this San Fran is the best city in the US. How expensive was expensive? Was the hotel worth the money? We are just afraid of getting ripped off now we have to go it alone because miss travel agent messed up. By the way she WAS a personel fiend.

CJ....Why do you assume your travel agent "screwed up?" What you are saying is she had you booked at a hotel in Barcelona and the hotel overbooked and cancelled your reservation. At exactly what point did the travel agent screw up? Do you think this wouldn't have happened if you hadn't used a travel agent?? You probably just wouldn't have found out until you arrived at the hotel. Do you think your travel agent had control over this situation?? I think not. Perhaps you shouldn't be travelling if you expect every situation to work out perfectly. I think this travel agent is indeed lucky that she/he WAS a personal friend.

Our agent said she booked our hotel when she booked our cruise and airlines etc. That was over four months ago. When we received all our confermations there was not one from Hotel Barcelona (she forgot to book us four months ago when she made the rest of our reservations. When she finally called the hotel last week she claimed she got us in, then we found out a day later the hotel was overbooked and we were out of a place to stay. Had she booked when she said she was going to I'm sure this problem would have not occured. You must be an agent youself to defend someone you don't even know and did not get all the details (probably that was my fault for not giving you the whole story) Lack of communication.
