My wife and I are planning our first trip together to France. Last week in June, first week august. total 16 days. Would like to hear ideas on how to allocate between Paris, provence, and south coast. Enjoy big cities combined with village life. Don't want to rush from one destination to another. Current thinking is to start in Paris (4 nights) and finish in Nice 93-4 nights) using latter as a base. If we wanted to spend a week in Provence and tour, would two locations be best? Which ones? Tentatively looking at staying in Gordes or St. Remy, or Le Baux. Help?

That's an awfully long 16 days. Or is it a short month and a half?

Do you want to drive through France to Provence or spend 10 days in Provence?

In the latter case, a train would be better than driving from Paris.

Planning to extend to 6 nights in Paris. Choosing between Relais Christine and Caron de Beaumarchais. Good choices? Description of Marais area is to our liking. Thought to take train to Avignon, pick up car and tour Provence. Maybe 4-6 nights in Provence. Do we stay in one location like Gordes(Les Mas des Herbes Blanches?), Le Baux(Oustau de Baumaniere?) or St. Remy( Les Mas des Carassins?) or chose two of these areas for some change of scenery?. Should we spend 4 nights in St. Remy for example and a night or two in Aix (Le Mas de Entremont?). From there, we thought to spend 5 nights or so in Nice( La Perouse?) as a base to tour by car. Flight Nice to Paris to Boston.

Appreciate any and all help from this giving community of knowledgeable travelers
