We had a similar problem when we went a few weeks ago. Try the Hotel Dante - it is a Best Western Hotel and can be booked through the BW international reservations web site. It was reasonable and in a nice location.

Claudia,

It's Holy Week AND school break in a lot of countries.

Have you tried Gran Via or St. Agustin? (Probably have, but if not, try them).

Michele

Claudia,
Also try the Meson Castilla (www.husa.es or www.simply-travel.com), the Hotel Continental on the Ramblas (www.hotelcontinental.com), the Hotel Adagio in the Barri Gotic (phone: 93 31 89061, fax: 93 3183724-tidy, friendly, spotlessly clean and about 10,000 pts. double) and the Astoria (www.derbyhotels.es-not cheap but about $100).
If you strike out there, you might consider staying in the very pretty (and hip) seaside resort of Sitges, only 1/2 hr. by train from Barcelona (tons of daily departures from Estacio Sants). There you'll find lodging in all price ranges-it's a major European beach resort but shouldn't be fully booked during those dates-July/Aug. is high season in Sitges.
Good luck!

ann26, your reply is about 6 months too late (unless you want to mention that particular booking site.)

That happens when yon don't read other posts before posting.

Anyway, someone must have reported. The post right before mine above that resurrected the thread has been deleted. Other may not understand my post without knowing the context. I guess Fodors agreed with my suspicion in ( ).

Six months too late? It looks like 11 years plus six months. Good catch on the advertising!
