Its all good amsdon.

This is what the itinerary looks like now:
April 2,3,4 nights in Seville
5 Early morning train to Cordova. Take the evening train to Granada (overnight)
6 Granada, all day. Evening train to Madrid
7,8,9,10 Madrid (Day trips to Toledo and Segovia!!)
11 Fly back home.

I am in the process of getting hotels for our trip. Alminar Hotel & Hotel Amadeus seem to be booked for our dates. Planning to go with Hotel Alcantara for Seville and Puerta de Las Granadas for Granada. Anyone have any recommendations for Hotels for Seville/Granada/Madrid. It would be nice if its around $100-$125/night. Thanks!

Hi TripQs-

I'm not sure what's the latest in the luggage storage situation in Cordoba. Last year when I went, the luggage lockers at the Cordoba train station were roped off, so I had to use the lockers in the bus station, which is across the street from the train station. Just FYI.

You may be interested in reading my trip report from last year, as I went to all the places you planned to visit.

In Madrid, I stayed at Hotel Plaza Major. I like it a lot and it gets good reviews here. Definitely within your budget.

I also stayed at Hotel Alacantara in Seville. My trip report (link above) has hotel reviews in it.

So is the train the overnight or do you need somewhere to sleep in Granada?

TripQs Feb 4th, 2009 03:36 AM

amsdon, we will be staying overnight in Granada.

yk, thanks for the suggestions. I will definitely look into the locker situation in Cordoba. Another option is to take the evening train to Cordoba and stay overnight.

Maribel recommended this place in Granada. Though I have not yet been there I did recommend it to a friend & they loved it.

TripQ's:
Is there a reason why you don't want to be in Sevilla or Cordoba during Holy Week? It is crowded but an incredibly wondrous time to visit. Personally, I'd visit Madrid first then head to Andalucia during Holy Week. It's not crowded everywhere you turn - just as the processionals are in the areas.

CathyM, its the cost of hotels. It seems the rates are 3 times the usual in Seville during Holy week. We will be in Cordoba on the 5th and in Granada on the 6th, so we will be there for a bit during Holy week. The rates are not that bad in Cordoba or Granada.
