Help: problem with flights: HELP!

Hi,

I booked lufthansa roundtrip yesterday for $614 and cheaptickets emailed me that they cancelled my flight. I called to inquire and they are saying they couldnt obtain the $614 quote so they cancelled it and if I want to rebook I have to pay $1286. What should I do? Do I have any leverage to try to negotiate them to give me that CHEAP $614 rate?

help!!!

Also, Cheaptickets already charged my credit card for BOTH $614 tickets so perhaps I can negotiate?

If they cancelled the transaction then I assume they also sent a credit through to your CC account.

The protest w the CC folks would be for non-delivery of goods/services BUT the company has told you they won't deliver and if they issue a credit there's not much to protest.

Are you certain you cannot get the cheaper fare directly from the airline website?

I have not been able to obtain a fare even close to the same rate. I'm seeing 900+ where i paid $614. Big difference. They havent exactly credited me just yet, though they said they plan to.

Well I spoke to the superviser after holding for 2 hours and 35 minutes (in all seriously). She kept repeating like a broken record that if I wanted to rebook I'd have to pay todays rates. The flights we booked were confirmed, we even selected seats too. I just dont get it! I'm so upset!

You're not quite clear. Has the entire flight been cancelled (Lufthansa can tell you this)? Or have just your tickets been cancelled - and they're willing to sell you more expensive seats on the same flight.

If the former, cheaptickets can force Lufthansa to fly a plane just for you. You're simply out of luck and need to find the next cheapest option.

If the latter - and you have proof that they have charged you and not refunded the money - again call Lufthansa to see if you have seats or not. In that case - if you try to pursue it legally you MAY get somewhere - but I wold think any attorney's fees would be much more than just buying a more expensive ticket.

nytraveler, apparently cheaptickets was able to ticket 2 at the low rate, but the other 2 tickets they couldnt ticket at the low rate. When I called the airlien direct, they said cheaptickets was able to get the first set of 2 tickets in on time, but missed the deadline for the fare sale for the next 2 tickets. I guess I'm just out of luck. They did charge my credit card.

What a bummer !! That's the problem with dealing with a booking site. I had something similar with Orbitz. I will never use them.

Hope everything works out for you..
