Help please with our Cyclades route...
We are arriving in Milos in May and after a family stay there, will strike out to visit some other islands over 3 weeks. We've been visiting theGreek islands for 25 years and prefer smaller more peaceful ones. The route we are trying to work out would start in Milos then Kimolos and connect most of these islands ....Folegandros - Syros-Serifos-Sifnos-returning perhaps via Andros or Kythnos . Rafina would be a fine ending to get to the airport and home.
How to thread them together is the challenge. Artemis and other older ferries are preferred over small cats....

I have planned a few Greek island trips and linking up the islands on whatever list you have can be difficult. Try using this website which was helpful -

There was a ferry between Folegandros and Milos because we have travelled that route. Of course things might have changed but I'm guessing it's still possible. In some cases you may either have to go back to Athens or drop some of the islands on your list. Good luck with your research.

The Zante ferries timetable is not yet published.
Nevertheless, you will most probably be able to visit all the Islands you mention without any problem by combining the timetables of Dionisos Solomos (Zanteferries), Artemis (Hellenic Seaways), Superferry I and II (Golden Star Ferries)
Scedule | Zante Ferries
Itineraries ? Goutos Lines
Accommodation should be available on the spot on all these Islands (local holidays excepted).

Thank you. That would make for a memorable trip. It's nice to have your route decided in advance of course, but like with a few Greek things, sometimes you have to be patient and go with the flow.. We'll keep checking those sites...

I know there is a route (at least there was last summer) from Santorini - Folegandros-Milos - Sifnos- Serifos - Piraeus (Athens). I don't know how you'd tie in the other islands you mentioned but at least those were connected by daily ferry.

Tomkathy, you are getting lots of good advice on TripAdvisor.

Isabel is referring to Zanteferries and to the ugly catamaran Seajet 2

isabel Jan 24th, 2019 02:54 AM

It wasn't that ugly and it got me where I wanted to go, when I wanted to go, efficiently. I much prefer the slower ferries where you sit out on deck but if you are trying to string together those islands (which I was, and so is Tommo) then it's not bad. Was very crowded in July, might be better in May.

SeaJet 2 is fine when the sea is smooth, as Tommmo probably knows from his previous trips to the Cyclades. I booked SeaJet 2 three different times when it ran the Rafina - Tinos - Mykonos - Paros route. Twice it was cancelled at short notice and I nearly missed my flight back to the UK, and third time was lucky with a short trip from Mykonos to Paros. That day the sea was smooth as glass, and the ferry nearly empty after dropping most of its passengers off at Mykonos.

Since then I've learned my lesson, and avoided routes that require SeaJet 2 or its sister ship Superjet. I don't understand why Sea Jets are still using these small catamarans now that they have several much larger ones. Those two ferries have stained the reputation of the entire Sea Jets company.

Don't worry. There will be no need for Seajet 2. The whole trip can be made by slow ferries (see my post 3).

Thank you all. We think we'll be ok now with the options and choices - and allowing for some improvisation where necessary.
(For example the people who were stuck on Kimolos when the ferry captain decided not to run the 6pm ferry back to Appollonia) Joys of travel eh?
The schedules from neckervd in no.3 are particularly useful...
Cheers and thanks again
