Help planning trip to Amalfi Coast

Can someone please tell me if this sounds ok:
Trip to Italy end of June
Fly from JFK to Naples
-2 nights in Naples @Mercure Napoli Angioino Centro
-Taking the Ferry to Capri and staying in Capri for 2 nights - not sure what hotel?
-Then taking ferry to Sorrento for 3 nights
not sure what hotel?
As far as wine goes- are there any vineyards in and around that area or am I kidding myself?

That is not really wine country---think " limons" and limoncello.

That's what I've been reading but I'm sure the wine is still good. Have you been to Sorrento?

They make wine in all areas in Italy. Do a search for Campania (that's the region you're going) vineyards or even Capri vineyards, and you should be able to find a few.

I spent time here in Oct 05 and I would stay one night in Naples, maybe one night or a day trip to Capri, add in Sorrento and Positano. I've heard from other travelers that Capri isn't big enough to keep you busy for 2 whole days, and there's more to see along the coast. Have a great time!

Hi Fashionista,

On my last trip I stayed:

3 nts Praiano (more my type of place than Positano)

2 nights on Capri in Anacapri

1 nt Naples (mainly to see the Arch Museum)

Since my time in Praiano included a trip all the way down to Paestum, I would have loved an additional day there. I also would have loved an extra day in Naples to see more of the city and visit Caserta on the way back to Rome.

I think if you are staying in Naples 2 nts, I would recommend somewhere other than Sorrento for your other nights, somewhere further south on the Amalfi Coast.

There is plenty to do and see on Capri to keep you busy for 2 days, especially if you enjoy some hiking (Villa Jovis) and extremely high end shopping. My favorite thing was a 2 hour boat tour around the island. Away from the hoards, fresh air, ocean breezes, beautiful scenery.

Buon viaggio!

Oh Bob the N, you haven't lived yet. The wines of that area are excellent. The soil from Mt. V is excellent on the slopes for wine as well.

Just off the top of my head I can think of:

Mastroberardino, Greco di Tufo, Avellino, and Falaghina.

Aglianico is a great red and if you go into the local wine stores or stores that sell wine you will see many delicious local wines.

Have fun.
