Help! Paris Hotel in 2 weeks!!!!
I posted this under paris triple and thought I'd repost with new heading to see if I can get more responses...
We will be in Paris mid December '06 (yes... that soon) and because of a variety of things - including my husbands ankle injury last week - our plans have chaged and I'm scrambling to put our plans in place in a week! I'm looking for a triple room - Have an adult single daughter.
We've stayed in the Minerve (5th) before and liked it, but want to be in a different location this time to do something new... thinking of the 6th or 7th or the Marais. We liked walking around the Marias when we were there last and we are looking to be in an area that is lively and has restaurants and sites near by.
I have some possibilities for the 6th and 7th but don't know the Marais well enough to know about hotels there or location.
Because of my husband's ankle we'll need a hotel with:
-- an elevator
--near bus or metro
--would like to walk out of hotel and be in active area
--a lobby or a place where he can take a break from walking - could be that he uses our room...
--would like to have breakfast included so we don't have to walk for that - but, not absolutely necessary
--around 200 Euros - of course, less is always nice
To date I've been looking at this list:
--Hotel Monge (7th) if anyone has stayed - what is near by?
--Hotel Henri, IV Rive Gauche - even though 5th a different area of 5th and have read good reports on this site
--Milesime Hotel (this includes breakfast) (6th) have read good reports on this site... is it very quiet near by or would we be near metro, and restaurants..
--Hotel D'Albion (8th) - their web site looks nice, but don't know location too well and haven't found any reports on this hotel.
Would love some feedback on these hotels and suggestions for the Marais or others you can suggest.

Hotel Henri, IV Rive Gauche is a very good choice--my husband and I have stayed there several times-- and it fits each of your requirements.
Nice lobby to relax, the rooms are large, even by US standards.
That would be my recommendation.

I am in the process of posting my trip report from our trip to Paris over Thanksgiving that you can see on this page. Hotel Le Regent gets my vote. The location is perfect in the heart of the 6th. well, I don't know if you'd like my favorite hotel which has most of the things you want but isn't that central, so I guess it's out.
Just wanted to say that I think you are creating limitations for things that aren't necessary. For example, whether breakfast is included or not is irrelevant in terms of whether you have to walk somewhere for it or not. I think every govt-rated hotel in Paris serves some kind of breakfast, regardless of star level. It is either served in your room and/or in a breakfast room, but whether it is included in the rate or not, you can pay for it separately (which often is what included is, anyway -- just a rate quoted with the breakfast fee).
Also,you have a mistake on the Hotel Monge as it isn't in the 7th, it is in the 5th right near the Monge metro, so if you want someplace different, you can rule that out.
I also think if you husband has an ankle problem, you should insist more on being near both a metro and bus stop, and very near one (ie, about a block or two at most). That should be easily possible, except maybe a little more difficult in the Marais. Some usual suspect hotels in the Marais I know of aren't that close to a metro stop, more like 4-5 blocks (eg, Bretonnerie). I think the Hotel Castex and Hotel Jeanne d'Arc there are both within a couple blocks of a metro stop, though.
As for the 5th, I didn't think the Henri IV Rive Gauche was that far away from the Minerve, so that isn't much of a different area, if you want a change. I think the Millesime is a pretty good idea if you can get it. That is near the corner of rue Jacob and rue de Seine, so that's a short two blocks or so to a metro stop and bus lines. That is right in the thick of many restaurants around rue de Buci, etc. -- I'd be worrying more about being noisy than being too quiet, but it should be fine in December.

I went to laterooms.com and clicked into Paris... there are rooms for triples. But I wouldn't dilly-dally ... and my husband and I truly enjoyed the 17 eme, I lovedd being in the 1st close to the Louvre and the 11th was nice too. Big city, easy to get around.
With your husband's damaged ankle...you might consider looking into the buses.
There can be a lot of steps to get to the metros.
What is Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in French? Bonne Noel? Bonne Annee?

Hi TF,
Good advice from Christina.
You might want to consider the Hotel Bonaparte.
Several buses are within a block of the hotel. A metro is about 2 blks.
It has all of the other requirements that you list.

As for the breakfast... certainly not a high priority, I agree. I agree with the bus idea as well... Is there a link to the bus routes?
I wrote to Le Regent and asked about a triple and they responded with a double, so I have written again. You are right - I wrote to Hotel Monge thinking it was a different hotel in the 7th... I'm writing to Hotel Bonaparte - thanks...
The Millesime does look interesting to me. I couldn't really find much on this site and on trip advisor it was a bit mixed... there is always the person who doesn't like something! Would love to hear from those who have stayed here...

We've stayed at the Millesime 3 or 4 times. I really can't say anything about their triples as we always booked a superior double. We certainly did enjoy our stays there and would so again but it has climbed out of our price range. The breakfast if it is included is very good , quite ample.
You might consider our new favorite , where we've stayed on our last 8 or 9 trips, the du Danube, also on rue Jacob. They don't have a triple "room" but do have what they call apartments, 2 seperate rooms and a bath. The rooms themselves are not huge but do allow for something more than a bed and allow a bit of privacy for a couple and another person.
The lobby area is nice for relaxing and English language newspapers are available. We don't do breakfast there, prefering to walk a few blocks to Paul. There is a cafe next door, one just across the strett, one a 1 minute walk up the street, and cafe Bonaparte,Deux Magots or cafe de flore less than 5 minutes walk for breakfast. Lots of places nearby for dinners. The St germain metro is less than 5 minutes walk, the 95 bus is just across the street, busses along St Germain or the quais are about a 3 minute walk.
