help... paris hotel

anyone who has been to paris... please can you recomend a nice (maybe 3 or 4 star) hotel that is in a good area of town, not too far away from all of the sites of paris.

On our first trip to Paris we stayed at the Muguet in the 7th. Thought it was a great location. Eiffel Tower just a short walk away and just a block away from Rue Cler a great street where we would have our breakfast from man making crepes in his little booth. We had a very nice room overlooking the street and the bathroom was quite large with a bathtub, something I just loved after walking all day. It was quite reasonable. If I remember correctly only $80 or $90cdn. Hope this helps. We loved Paris and are planning another trip to France next year. Have fun.

JB, the problem is that LOTS of people have recommended LOTS of good Paris hotels that are 3 or 4*, in a good area. You might want to do a search here, and read up, make some choices and then post a specific question about your choices. Type in "hotel in Paris" and select "France", then click on the search button (does it say Find? Go? Can't see it while I'm typing).

I can second the recommendation for Hotel Muguet. Great location...5 minute walk to Ecole Militaire Metro station. Near Rue Cler where you can buy fresh pastries, bread, fruit & vegetables. Several little cafes (Cafe Marche is good) and a tasty Chinese cafe/takeout. Also a couple of mini markets for bottled water, juice, pop, etc. Last October paid about $120 Cdn for a twin.

Can someone recommend something other than the Muguet (since it's booked on the night I want to go). :( thanks!

lb, you don't mention when you are going to Paris. It's probably within the next couple of months?

Anyway, if I were you I'd look into www.france-hotel-guide.com as they have many hotels featured in all the districts. You can research the hotels there and email them directly for availability. They offer many hotels from 1* to 4*.

My first trip to Paris was only for a weekend, and we wanted to be in a good central spot to get to as much of the city as we could .. we stayed on the Ille St-Louis at the D'Lutece on rue St-Louis en Ille.
It is charming, has great views from the rooms at the top and is quite affordable.
Have a good trip!

Hi jb
Our family of 4 (2 adults & 2 kids) spent 4 nights at Hotel de L'Odeon (13 rue Saint Sulpice)in June, 2002. While the room was TINY (by American standards), it was lovely - clean, nicely-decorated, comfortable and quiet. The front desk staff (especially Christine) were friendly & helpful. The hotel was within walking distance to almost everything - Notre Dame, the Louvre, Orsay, Rodin, Luxemburg, Latin Quarter, etc. It is a 3-star hotel with tiny elevator and breakfast available. Their web site (Paris-hotel-odeon.com)posts pictures of the place. We highly recommend it!
