Help! Obtaining Visa for Russia

We’ll be doing independent travel in Russia. In order to get VISA, we need to provide “Visa Support Letter”. Our hotel in Moscow (Marriott) said that they can issue this letter for us.

Visa instruction states that Visa Support Letter must contain date of entry/departure. We will be staying at the hotel in Moscow for the first few days, and then we’ll travel to other cities. Does this mean that the Moscow hotel will only put down the specific period we are staying there? If so, do I need to get support letter from all of the hotels we plan to stay in Russia?

Thank you in advance for your help.

We run across this very often. The Marriott is unlikely to give you support beyond your scheduled stay, and therefor you need invitations (visa support letters) from each other hotel you are a guest of during your stay.

Some visa services get around this limitation by issuing an invitation for the maximum length of validity for a tourist visa (30 days).

Marc,

Thank you very much for your comment. I guess we'll have to use one of those visa service companies then.

I've read many of your posts – your posting is always very helpful - I especially appreciate your insightful comments. Thanks again for taking time to help our follow travelers!

Best regards,
Mochi

We visited Russia in May this year and had the same issue staying in Marriot properties in Moscow and St. Petersburg. We decided to use the online service on the waytorussia.net website. It cost $30 dollars and was very fast with all documents emailed within a couple days. We also requested and recieved an invitation that extended well past our planned departure date (but less than 30 days total) in case we decided to extend our stay.

Enjoy you're trip. As you will read from others, this is truely a great destination.

I have used russia-visa.com often with excellent service. they will issue the invitation. You need to register your passport in each city, and make sure you keep the forms from your entry through each stay.
