Help needed with last night in Ireland!!!

I'm planning a week long trip to Ireland in September...3 nights in Dublin, 3 nights in Kilkenny, and the last night is up for grabs...

Any recommendations on where to stay for the last night before heading home from Dublin Airport? We'll have a rental car, and were most interested in staying at a Castle hotel, but can't seem to find much with availability on that night. Preferably I would like to stay somewhere with relatively easy access to the airport...maybe within an hour's or less drive. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Anyone know anything about Moyglare Manor or Tinakilly House Hotel? I tried Clontarf castle, but they're booked. Thanks!

Maybe try hidden Ireland or Blue Book websites.

Tinakilly has a good reputation and is located in lovely country village not too far from Dublin.
Also try www.beourguest.ie

I would love to stay at Smarmore, unfortunately they are booked for our last night. Thanks for the suggestions...I'm looking into a few places, but keep them coming!

travel-junkie: google The Blue Book. I've stayed in a few of their places and they are very nice.

Have you tried Killiney Castle Hotel?

It is on the south side of Dublin and on a good day 1 hour from the airport.

It has the advantage of being IMO in one of the most beautiful places in the Dublin area.

It is a lovely area and would make a wonderful last night in Ireland.

yes, the Barberstown Castle is booked, although I did find availability at Killiney. I was unsure about Killiney, since the interior/room shots look more like a standard hotel than a castle, but if people have had good experiences there I will consider it. Thanks!

Is the one in Killiney the Fitzpatrik castle hotel? It is more of a hotel than a castle in the way that Clontarf Castle is as well. I am not sure if that is that you expect.

Tinakilly is in Wicklow and could be a long drive if you get stuck in traffic. Its a manor house from what I remember and meant to be lovely.

travel junkie, Most castle hotels are upscale hotel rooms. They have been remodled and updated to be just that. Very few castles have that "ancient atmosphere" with stone walls, canopy beds, rushes on stone floors and dogs with fleas sleeping under the bed. If that is what you are looking for I suggest staying at a regular hotel and saving money.
