HELP needed for late night transpo from Madrid airport to city center

Hello,

So I have a slight problem of getting to my hostel in Madrid from the airport. I get in at 1AM in Madrid, and I know the metro stops at 2AM. To get to my hostel, which is Cat’s Hostel at 'Antón Martín' off the blue line 1, I’d have to transfer 2 times. I don’t know if this is possible before the metro stops running, especially after customs, immigration and baggage claim. I also know you can take a bus to Plaza de Colon that stops running at 2AM, but then I’d have to walk, which might be far, or even dangerous at that hour?

Does anyone have suggestions besides taxi to get to the city center at this hour? Around 2 AM from the airport? Also is it safe enough to walk around with a fully loaded backpack equipped for a month…thanks, I really appreciate your help.

The airport bus now goes to Avenida de America not Plaza de Colon and that is too far to walk to Cat's. There are buse called buhos(owls) that run all night and I'm pretty sure you could get one from Avenida de America but look up their schedule-you need to get as close to Atocha and then walk about 5 minutes up the hill to Cat's. The best/safest for you would be to reserve the shuttle aerocity.com It will take you to Cat's.It's only 17€

No ,no extra charge for the shuttle! There's a website sleepinginairports.net and the reviews make it sound okay...............!

doh, i emailed that company and they said they dont operate between 12 midnight and 330AM. Looks like I'll be sleeping in the madrid airport, at least it got good reviews, thanks for that awesome website!
