help needed for hotels around st. remy-de-provence

Hi, we will be five days (4 nights) in Provence and plan to use St. Remy as a base (on the advice from this board). Since we can't stay a week, a house rental doesn't seem feasable. What hotels do the experts recommend in and around St. Remy? We'd like to stay under $150.00 a night -- looking for something with charm and beauty, comfortable & relaxed atmosphere.

Thanks!
Bennett Schneir

Have you heard of the Hotel de Canto Cigalo in St.Remy? Is there a reason why it's not listed?

Thanks! (I'm booking there based on other recommendations, unless I should know something.)

We stayed at the Domaine de Valmouriane last year, which was very lovely, but I don't know if it fits your price range or not.

to Elizabeth:

Yes, I know the Canto Cigalo. It's a very simple and plain hotel... clean. It has no pool or A/C - if you're headed here during the hot weather.

I haven't attempted to list all the hotels, just those I'm more familiar with - having seen the rooms or had friends tell me they like them. Since I live here, I don't stay in them !

The Valmouriane is a lovely property - well outside of town, and the price is a bit above what Bennett had requested, which is why I didn't list it.

PB

I've stayed at Mas de l'Oulivié twice and enjoyed both stays very much. It's not that motel-y...if you ask for a room around no. 26, you have an outside, covered entrance to your room, and chairs outside that are part of a little garden. It's lovely. The rooms are very basic, but very clean and the bathrooms are quite large - we had a shower and a bath in ours.

Maussane has wonderful restaurants in town and just outside of town, so staying there would be ideal for dinner places. (Mas de l'Oulivié is a quick 5 minute drive to Maussane.)

Thanks for responding -- I like clean, and simple is just fine, (for the Hotel de Canto Cigalo). If there's a better hotel for the same price with more charm, that would be super. Otherwise, I think we'll be happy.

Has anyone heard (anything good) of Chateau de Roussan in St-Remy? I am planning to book it but wanted to know if anyone stayed there?

Thanks
