Help needed deciding on travel route

Hi. I am in the begining stages of my planning my trip to France. The primary focus of this trip is seeing the places where my family has come from.

That being said, I have no idea on how to organize the trip based upon the different regions of France that I want to go to. Any help is greatly appreciated...

I'd like to see Paris,
Roubaix, Nord, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France
Marolles, Pays de la Loire,
Celles-sur-Plaine
St. Palais

I have about 10 days to do this trip.

Again, many thanks for any suggestions!

Also, we are thinking of going either Mid May, 2013 or sometime in June, 2013.

One way of organizing your trip is to use www.viamichelin.com or Google map and enter the various towns you mentioned starting with Paris and ending with St. Palais (there are several). Then adjust to establish the most logical itinerary.

Here's an example of a Google map itinerary:

Or you might find it easier to purchase a Michelin map of France and mark the towns and then establish an itinerary.

I think the issue you are going to have is that you only have 10 days and the places you want to visit are not close to one another. For Paris you probably want at least 3 full days, 4 nights - that leaves 7 days if your travel days arent included in the 10 days. If they are included in your 10 days you will have even less time.

Will you be renting a car?

@jamikins - I can definitely rent a car and maybe use the train if that would speed up the trip? The 10 days does not include travel time.

thanks.

If Roubaix is out of the way, a RT train trip from Paris would be in order. Only you can decide if Celles-sur-Plaine and Saint-Palais are best reached by train or by car, the latter as part of your trip to Marolles.
