Help Needed! Advice on shoes from French designer

hi all,

So with my upcoming trip to Paris this June, I have coveted the Roger Vivier shoe store in years past. I have always wanted a pair of RV flats, i just love the classic styling. But alas, the price is stratospheric!

Then....

Hopping around to various websites, I came across the Roger Vivier store at this link http://www.rogervivierflats.com/

Now wondering why the prices are sooo discounted. I then looked at other sites selling RV and alas no such discounts. The retail price in stores is comparable to the full $600 and upwards price of most of the other sites ( i live part time in Miami for the winter and I priced them at a RV store in Miami).

So savvy ones, I am missing something on the enclosed link? I looked over the shipping and return policy and indeed they look strict, but I didn't see anything amiss, but I am not as savvy as some of you! I just wouldn't want to blindly send cc details and come to find out that the website is a fraud ( such a suspicious mind, I know!)or that the shoes are irregular.

I'm not concerned that the shoes are from last years, the year before or even from the year before that. I think RV shoes are timeless.

I'm looking at in particular the RV Black Belle Vivier Ballerina Flats Pumps in Black. Its on sale for 50% off!!

I would wear these shoes out for dinner and such, not for walking around Paris, and I would do the same here at home.

Thoughts???

Thanks a mil....

the site looks legitimate and at the bottom says it's owned by RV. Ines de la Fressange who wrote Parisian Chic works for him and always wears his shoes and bags.

I love Ines and her book.

So you think a-ok on the site?

If so why would anyone pay upwards from $600 for RV shoes if they could use the site?

I am suspicious, would check it out more carefully. Did you read the text alongside those ballet pumps? Sounds like it was written by someone who doesn't speak English properly , and I don't mean some high end French designer either.

If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

I know raincitygirl, that's what I thought too! The English was very poor.

I can't imagine Roger Vivier not having a translator, or English-speaking employee, who couldn't do better than this:

<<Roger Vivier ballets shoes of unexpectedly design, Oversized decorative buckle, not only elegant, but also extremely important in the design of costume.Ballets shoes of Roger Vivier are distinct style and different feel. They are very comfortable and womanly, they could be joker sex.Especially, suede is unique leather. It takes refresh and new feel.Black and silver color constrast best>>

Doesn't sound right to me.

tripgirl, go to their real site rogervivier.fr or rogervivier.com and look at the difference.

There is a way to contact them on that site and I emailed them to tell them there was a possible fraudulent site.

I now am suspecting they are ripoffs, not because of the poor language which may be a Chineese person, but going back to the site, I saw they are also selling high end bags.

I agree with StCirq. If the description was written in that manner, it sounds very fishy. Roger Vivier's website does have a Japanese and English language version and looking at the English version, it is a proper english language translation with no misspellings. Also, I am just thinking, if it truly is a legit "clearance" site of RV, then I think they would link to it from their website. It is very easy to purchase domain names so even with that seemingly legit website name, it could be a place selling fake stuff. Let us know how it turns out...I'd be curious to know myself : )

Alarm bells ringing for me on a few things, firstly the language, secondly I have spent quite a lot of time daydreaming on their real site which is entirely different from this one and it just doesn't seem realistic that the brand new 2012 shoes would be selling for such a cheap price.

If you go to rogervivier.com and select English the text is in proper English, it just doesn't ring true that Roger Vivier would have site that crummy.

I hope their legal team gets after them.

Of course they're knock-offs. You can find websites like that for every designer label. Like someone said, if it's too good to be true...

but usually there will be something saying their faux or
copied. There are legit. sites like Bluefly and Farfetch that do
have some models of designer's goods like RV.

You are all sooo wonderful

When I go to Rogervivier.com on my I Pad I'm asked to download the I phone app, which I did and what is loaded on is like a blog, not a shopping site. What am I doing wrong?

Sorry but reading that paragraph tells me all I need to know. A legitimate website would have someone fluent to translate into correct English.
