Cindi,
I got a pretty good response when I told we were going to go somewhere else, but I would plan it and surprise her with the actual itinerary during the trip. I feel pretty comfortable doing this. Thanks for your concern, though.

Well, it looks like I found a great tour: London - Paris - Rome.
We get married on July 31st (I know! Who has a wedding mid-week??? Long story!) and we were looking at leaving for our honeymoon a week later (once all of our guests return home).

Anyway, the tour starts in London on August 14th. So, I'll assume we will fly into London around August 6th giving us until the 17th, when we leave to Paris. Thus, we have 10 days for London & Scotland with the only thing we need to do is play St. Andrews and maybe one or two other hidden secrets of golf courses.

I would think 4 days in London is more than substantial, the first two used to relax (6th arrive, 7th & 8th) and the last two (or one) as part of the tour 15th & 16th.

Is August 9th to 15th enough time for some of the good highlights of Scotland?
Is driving the correct choice?
Or take the train to one of the major cities and rent a car up there only and "train-it" back?

Thanks again for you replies!

James,

PLEASE reconsider taking a tour for your honeymoon. This is a time to explore together and plan your own schedule. You don't want to be shuffled along with a group of other people.

I know it's intimidating trying to figure out where to go and what to see, but if you spend a little time on this forum, reading travel books and searching the internet you can plan it yourself.

Just a little something to consider.

Best of luck and best wishes on your upcoming wedding.
