HELP ! Need to change our Paris travel plans Nov 16-24.
 

Hi, We have a trip planned for London and Paris ,but afraid that the riots will still be going on during our trip. Do you have any suggestions for alternate travel locations for our trip Nov 16-24? We are a family of 4 with kids ages (9 and 11).

We are flying into London and planned to stay 2-3 nights, take the chunnel to Paris for 4-5 nights and fly home from Paris.

I had everything lined up for Paris sightseeing and now I am a bit overwhelmed with trying to start over in a new country. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You could esaily spend all that time in London. Another option would be to head up to Edinburgh, Scotland for a few nights. Our children loved both places when we took them a couple years ago.

I think the real issue is whether you can change your return flight to leave from somewhere besides Paris. If you have to go to Paris to fly home, I guess I'd do longer in London and go to Paris anyway for a few days.

One thing you should know is that you could fly to Rome on RyanAir for like one penny (no, seriously the flight is one cent). Check out their schedule at their web site.

You could take a train to Brussels and visit that city. If you have enough time, you can also day trip to Antwerp, Bruges or Ghent.

Five cars were burned outside the Brussels train station last night. The 1 cent flight to Rome sounds more appealing now.

We are planning a trip to Amsterdam, Brussels and maybe Paris this spring, but now I'm waiting a little while before making final plans. All this bad news is very discouraging. And here in Louisiana we are still recovering from the two hurricanes!

There is so much to see and do in London, I think you should spend all of your time there if you can change your plane ticket and fly home from London. I promise, you will NOT run out of things to do.

I agree with P.M. - you will certainly not run out of wonderful things to do in London. Your kids will love it more than Paris, regardless.

I would stay in the UK and visit London, Scotland and Wales.

If you can't change your plane tickets, I suggest one of the cheap flights from the UK to CDG.

You can leave from Glasgow, Cardiff or LHR.

There's nothing wrong with continuing your trip to Paris.

Don't give up on Paris yet. I'm here in the central area and it is business as usual, including museum's, but everyone has one eye open to what is going on around them.

This is a great time to be in Paris. The weather is still temperate, and most tourist are waiting for spring and summer to visit.

Watch the news but for now I still would make the trip to Paris.

I so doubt this will impact our trip. I am going November 21-27.

But if you want to a play it safe you saw the response to all of your initial inquiries on where to go. Don't you have a runner up? I thought Greece was also something you were considering

I have posted a thread on this forum regarding this issue as I am living in Paris with my husband and two children (ages 10/13) Unfortunately is was poorly worded ( I am new at this) and was thus scolded. Yes, there are riots in many of the towns and even some reports have the rioting taking place in Paris. I can only tell you that during the day and in centeral Paris, nothing is out of the ordinary. I live in the 16th and travel all over the city every day and would not know of the troubles except for the news. I would make sure to take the Airfrance bus from the airport or a taxi as there have been MINOR interruptions to the RER. I understand your hestitation, but knowing what I know from being here, I wouldn't let it interfere with my trip. That's just me though.

There have been isolated incidents of a few parked cars that have been burned late at night when you will be tucked safely away in your hotel. I walk my dog every evening in the dark in a park surrounded by public housing and have seeen nothing.

I'm coming to Paris on Wednesday with my dad for four nights (I live in London), also on the Eurostar. Can't wait! I'm not about to let a few morons spoil my holiday. Vive la France!

Any time Ira. Not sure what you meant by that but I dont plan to go to the burbs to distribute Brioche. Perhaps when you visit Paris your main focus is actually Seine St Denis. However for those of us within the city of Paris it is business as usual.

I'd go to Paris myself.
Visit London, Scotland and Wales all in eight days?
You'll find plenty to do in London in that time.

What about the car and building burned in the Marais? I'd say that's fairly central Paris.
