help! need place to stay in Paris in May to POP the QUESTION

Didn't I just see a thread on this forum on the same topic? A friend just called to say her son wants to pop the question in Paris and they can go there, surprise visit, in early May.

Things look heavily booked. Help me find the thread, find an apartment for 5 days, or find a central hotel that will be affordable* and romantic. (meaning under $200)

MANY THANKS.

I think the consensus was to propose in a private/intimate setting as opposed to a public one!

I think it's awfully late to look for a hotel in Paris in May. And for that rate the choices may well be very limited. If he wants to propose IN the room I suggest that he look for a hotel that has a "balcony". Note - this will not be a terrace or even a balcony that you can put chairs out on - but there is usually enough room for 2 people to stand - and perhaps a pretty view of a quaint street or over rooftops. Obviously this would have to be done late at night to avoid being a spectacle to people on the street or in other buildings.

Actually, at this point, I think he'd really just like to find a nice place to stay to show his love Paris for the first time!

I'm sure he can find a place for the actual proposal.

Things do look very booked up. So sad, because it is such a romantic gesture!

You could try Hotel Amour (http://www.hotelamourparis.fr/) which has a perfect name for such a trip and is a very memorable hotel.

I think the room rate is around €150 a night (or at least it was when I stayed there a couple of years ago). Might be a little late to book, but you never know your luck...

DS did it at the top of the Eiffel Tower--at night.
