Rental property in Berner Oberland?

I'm planning to take a 16 day or so trip to Switzerland for June, 2016. This is kind of my standard trip time (hard for me to get away longer than this), and I like to include a rental property during part of such trips. After looking at the possibilities, I'm thinking that the Berner Oberland portion of the trip is where I would like to spend the largest bloc of time, and, consequently, where I would like to find a rental property. I would like to find a place with 2 bedrooms for two people in this area. I would be willing to spend a week, but a slightly shorter stay (say, 5 nights) might be better. I have done some scouting on VRBO, but not a lot.

Does anyone have experience renting in this area? Any properties that you can recommend based on personal experience? Thoughts about whether we will have to rent for a week, or how opting for less might affect our options? And, where in the BO, would you rent (I'm sort of inclined to Wengen or Murren)?

Geisstiliboden Apartment in Muerren

The apartment is rented by Denise Fussell who also owns Chalet Fontana, a wonderful B&B where I have stayed. I'll be staying at the apartment in a couple of months. Both the B&B and the apartment get well deserved, excellent ratings.

We rented a wonderful two bedroom apartment in Lauterbrunnen one year and a less than wonderful 'apartment' more recently. I'll look up the name of the good one if you're interested. Hotel Oberland also has some nice looking apartments and I believe they only have a five night minimum (but perhaps only during low season).

We've been to the BO many times and have stayed in Grindelwald, Murren, Wengen and Lauterbrunnen.

For us, Lauterbrunnen makes the ideal spot for a week long stay - it's a transport hub so easy to get to the rest of the BO from here. We've also rented a place in Wengen, but wouldn't recommend it.

Apartments usually require a week long stay, Sat to Sat in high season, but some will allow shorter stays in low season. If you're going in early June, you might be in luck.

We spent a week in 2010 at Chalet Horner in Lauterbrunnen. We had one of the one-bedroom units, but I think there is a two bedroom one. We loved it, and we loved Lauterbrunnen and all the Berner Oberland! We had a wonderful balcony with great views of the mountains as well as the beautiful Lauterbrunnen valley.

Melnq8: Yes, please, if you get a chance, look up the name of the place. We will probably make a decision in September, so I've got plenty of time to research this. Your feedback is appreciated.

Just happened to catch this as I don't frequent these "boards" that often anymore. We stayed in Wengen, btw.

Lodging from TR:
Given that we are a family of 4 we opted for a chalet for the week. Could not have been happier. Loved the space, the quiet and the facilities (kitchen, washer AND dryer, etc.). We went with Chalet Service who were excellent to work with.

Chalet Horner is the place we didn't like in Lauterbrunnen on our most recent stay. There was nothing wrong with the establishment per se, but we booked the wrong room for our needs - it was so incredibly tiny we could barely move. There are larger units though.

The two bedroom unit we loved in Lauterbrunnen is listed here, sorry for the long link:
