help me remember this Paris restaurant...
 

My dad is trying hard to remember a restaurant where he had a particularly memorable meal in Paris, several years ago. He says it was facing the center side of Notre Dame on the side opposite of the Seine. Perhaps if someone could name a few places he might recognize the name. You'd make his day! Thanks!

Le Vieux Bistro?

Never been here, but isn't la Tour d'Argent across the Seine from Notre Dame? That would be a particularly memorable meal!

Can you give more specifics, it might help. If it was actually facing Notre Dame and that means on the street by the Seine, it would have to be on quai Montebello, I'd guess. There are some cafes around the corner of rue Saint Jacques where the bridge is (this would be either quai St-Michel or Montebellow), but I wouldn't think them particularly memorable.

Was this a regular restaurant, was it inside or outside, and what kind of cuisine? There are only a couple restaurants along there I'd think might be memorable a little bit -- Le Montebello and La Bouteille d'Or.

Go to www.pagejaunes.fr and look for restaurants and cafes on that street.

I would also say Vieux Bistro.

Thanks everybody! I will pass this on to him and see if I can some more hints. All I know is that it was small and he went there with a French family.

Isn't Vieux Bistro ON the Ile de Cite and not &quot;across the river from Notre Dame? Or am I thinking of another place?

It is across the river, on the left bank
but with a glorious view of the side of Notre Dame
Le Vieux Bistro is just across the street from ND, not across the river, unless the dad's memory is a bit faulty

Well, isn't it interesting how we read things differently. I'm reading it that the restaurant faces the side of ND from a point that is opposite the Seine, meaning across the Seine from ND. But I suppose the phrase could be interpreted either way if you're thinking it faces the &quot;side of ND that is located opposite of the river&quot;. How interesting.

By the way, cigalechanta, your answer was no help at all. We all know the delightful quasimoto's bistro is located in the tower and wliwl never mentioned being in a tower!
