Help Me Pick A Paris Hotel
 

I will be in Paris for 7 days staying at Le Meridien Montparnasse, then I'm off to London for 5 days, and have a hotel there. Then it's back to Paris for my last 2 nights, and I haven't booked a hotel yet. I am considering the California or the Sully both in the 5th on Ecoles. Any opinions about either of these hotels would be greatly appreciated. I was also considering staying at the Intercontinental near the Louvre in the 1st or another hotel near the Louvre. Again any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry, but maybe I just don't get your point - what was there in ktyson's question that made it necessary for you to ask this?

Ira's probably curious about the back/forth itinerary, vs. in to Paris, out of London (or vice versa).

If ktyson did not have her tickets, Ira and others might suggest that he/she consider an open jaw flight into London and out of Paris, thus saving the time needed to travel back and forth. Thus, the reason for the good question.

I'm not here to be that fuzzy about other people's (ktysonn's) intention, as well as your presumptions about ira's intent, but ktyson apparently have her/his own reasons for her/his travel arrangements and was already very specific with the detailed requirements as provided in her question.

Besides, some traveller, myself would be an example, sometimes has to make these type of flight arrangements just to fuse business and leisure needs when in Europe. I once had to return to the same city in Europe 3 times in the same trip just to accomodate business schedules and to finally meet with my wife for an extended leisurely vacation.

I can recommend a hotel in the1st, the Hotel Relais du Louvre. Out the door ... up the block to your left is the east facade of the Louvre.
Super little restaurant up the road on Ad. Coligny Blvd. as well (before one gets to the busyness of Rivoli) called Le Fumoir...

It seems that nobody has answered your question at all. I have been to Paris many times, try and book a hotel near to the left bank.

You will find here, calm and charming rooms with en suite bathrooms, a flowered patio and a delightful vaulted breakfast room.

A cheaper oneis The Libertel Bellechasse Paris which is a 3 star hotel offering 41 rooms. The hotel is located in the heart of the city centre, in the 7th district of Paris, opposite the Musée d Orsay, 800 meters from the Garnier Opera, 1,5 km from the Eiffel Tower and 2 k ilometers from the Palais de Bercy and the Sorbonne. Restaurants nearby. Tel No. +33 1/45502231, but check out website. Or you could try an Ibis hotel which are not so expensive. Dont stay near the Gard du Nord or Gard d'Lest (a rough area) as I found out to my cost whilst staying at the Ibis opposite the Gard d'Est.

To clear things up for everyone, the reason for my back and forth thing is twofold. When I originally bought the airline tickets I got a fantastic deal. Flying from Chicago to Paris roundtrip for $329. The other reason is I knew for sure I wanted to go to Paris, but I didn't know where else I wanted to go. I decided on London after I bought the tickets. I know all this back and forth seems rather unorganized, but I couldn't pass up $329.

You could check further on Sully St Germain, as I recall some negative comments - possibly on Tripadvisor. (no personal experience with either of your choices, out of my $ range ;) )
