Help me pack!
Going to Nice, France on Sept. 8th, and have to pack lightly. What will the temp be, any tips on what to bring?

Hi you can check these for weather forecasts and history, among many other sites
www.wunderground.com When you access a forecast for a city, at the bottom of the "current conditions" table, you'll see a box for "Historical Conditions". Not all cities have data; it seems to be available for larger cities in the country, but it's great for getting a general idea of temps/conditions during the time you'll be there.
www.washingtonpost.com also has historical weather data
www.nytimes.com/
www.weather.com/
www.cnn.com/WEATHER/
www.usatoday.com/weather/
www.rainorshine.com/
I have posted my own packing list, which you can view at http://sites.netscape.net/monicapileggi/travel Click under Travel Tips.

When I packed I tried to bring only clothes that all matched each other. That way you can have a lot of different outfits, with a lot of clothes, and don't feel like you are wearing the same thing all the time.

I've given up trying to forescast the weather. But from everything I read, things are going to remain hotter than normal for quite awhile (at least until the next Ice Age.) If that's true, I wouldn't be packing any heavy woolens when you go to France. Go with the monochromatic, easily washable clothes and you'll do fine. We just back from Italy (10 days) and we packed very lightly. We have never been known as "light" packers but we did it this time. There's lots of good advice out there on this topic, but keep in mind -- YOU need to be comfortable. Don't feel like you HAVE to wear all black, or high-tech travel clothes, etc. Just be you, but don't take lots of clothes and shoes and cosmetics and hair dryers and stuff like that.

Just got back from 5 weeks in France and Italy. My husband and I each took one carry on roll-aboard, plus I had a large purse and Jim had a small backpack (we are in our 50's). We travelled by all manner of transportation and weren't hampered by heavy luggage. I brought underwear for six days, two pair of black slacks, three sleeveless tops, one dress, one skirt, shorts and two pair of shoes. The backpack carried our personal and grooming items. We had more than enough clothes to wear. Pack what you think you will need, as they say, then take out half. You will still probably have too much.
