Help me make my decision!!!
(1) Fly from Berlin (SXF) to Nice, catch a ferry to Corsica or
(2) Fly from Berlin to Olbia, Sardinia, Italy, and work my way to Corsica. Facts: I will be doing this on Monday, June 12, 2006 Both flights are 44 euros with tax. The Ferry from Nice to Corsica would be extra. The flight to Nice is at 1:30 p.m. while the flight to Olbia is at 8:00 a.m. (early) I may not be able to make the ferry in Nice until the next day. I can't find any information on how to get from Sardinia to Corsica, but they do look close. |
Boats run frequently between the northern tip of Sardinia and the southern tip of Corsica:
Piombino-Santa Teresa di Gallura 10-16 sailings a day Moby Lines Bonifacio-Santa Teresa di G 2-4 a day Saremar Lines Piombino-Portoferraio 8-15/day Toremar Lines times 30 mins to 1 hour Source: Thomas Cook European Timetable |
Thanks so much, PalQ

I think getting there is almost a no-brainer. The second option is much better, particularly since you might have to spend a night in Nice before the ferry.
But you don't mention coming back. Might that make a difference? |
I decided to do the Berlin to Olbia, Sardinia on Sunday instead of Monday because it was cheaper and the flight was at 8:00 a.m. instead of 7:10 a.m.
Plan to take the ferry from Corsica to Marsielle, France, Thursday night. Thanks, all. |
Thomas Cook European timetable has got something wrong there:
1) Piombino is on the Italian mainland to the south of Livorno and I'm pretty sure there are no direct sailings from there to Santa Teresa di Gallura in Sardinia. 2) Porto ferraio is the main town of Elba and nothing to do with either Sardinia or Corsica. 3) Sailings between Bonifacio (Corsica) and Santa Teresa di Gallura (Sardinia). This is correct. Saremar run two crossings a day each way in winter going up to half a dozen or more crossings in summer and MobyLines also operate during the summer season so that total crossings per day may be around a dozen at the height of the season. The Saremar website is : www.saremar.it but I believe there is something wrong with it at the moment and you might not be able to get timetables! |
