Help me find a place to stay in Paris, please
I am cranky, and tired. I've been working long hours . Those are my reasons for not having the desire or time to do all the research I usually do.
I have always loved researching trips and have always loved all the time spent looking for the perfect place to stay. I don't know what's the matter with me this time, except for my reasons above. Please help me. Someone just tell me where to stay in Paris. All I ask is sometihng under $100 a night. I know, I know.. but even if it's a guest house or a small bachelor apartment. I don't care. I need it for 5 nights in June. 16 to 21. ( 21 is my birthday) . I don't care what area, as long as it's safe. Please don't slam me. I'll cry. |
We are staying here for two nights in June - it was recommended by an apartment owner.
http://www.cosmos-hotel-paris.com/en,1,6433.html Looks like €52 a night for 1 person. We liked the location, stayed in an apartment down the road. Good luck! |
Some alternatives (no personal experience with them)

Thank you both so so much . I really appreciate the help .
All three places are just what I'm looking for. I had no real idea of what area would be best adn these all look like they are close to the main areas. Thanks again. |
Here's a couple of places I can vouch for from recent stays:
http://www.paris-hotel-americain.com/ http://www.hotel-bastille-de-launay-paris.com/ Nowhere is going to be on top of everything - public transport will be needed; but these two are convenient for the kind of area I like in Paris (and are quite close to the Cosmos that jamikins recommended). You'd better start accustoming yourself to the maps - don't forget you can use www.pagesjaunes.fr to look at photos of particular addresses, much like Google maps. Public transport info is here: http://www.ratp.fr/en/ratp/c_21879/tourists/ http://www.ratp.fr/plan-interactif/ All about the different areas (arrondissements) in Paris: http://www.parisnet.com/parismap.html http://www.intransit-international.c...ment_tour.html http://www.parislogue.com/paris-neighborhoods (Off to Paris <i>again</i>, jamikins?) |
Yes, I know Patrick :) We are doing a 2 week trip in the late spring and have to end with 2 days in Paris - we are addicted! (sorry to highjack kodi!)

Hotel Marignan has rooms for for that price. It's a one star, not fancy but wonderfully located in the 5th just a block or so from the Cluny. Includes breakfast http://www.hotel-marignan.com/html/p1_a.htm

Stayed here last year - short walk to a couple metro stops. I liked it, small room, but very friendly staff.

Jamikins - I just don't know how you do it! You get some real travel time in. I'm so envious. I didn't peg you two for retired folk but you've got to let us know your secret. This work stuff really makes a mess of my travel plans! Just letting you know that I'm jealous and live vicariously through your great trip reports.
Ok Kodi, now back to you! |
CYESQ - hahahaha - we are super lucky to have 5 weeks vacation a year in the UK and we travel every one of those days if we can! Not retired (but sure wish we were!!) we are in our mid-30's but have no kids, so that definitely helps :)

Oh... NO, not back to me.. I love to hear how much you are addicted to Paris. I sure don't consider this to be highjacking !! I want to hear all about it.
Oh my goodness, thank you everyone. I can't wait to get home from work tonight to check out all the websites. You have no idea how much I appreciate the help. Fortunately, I'm good with maps, so I won't have a problem getting around. Patrick the sites you've giving me will sure help. sigh.. I'm feeling so much better. And ready for a holiday! I'll be in London and Paris. Thank goodness I'm at home in London. |
I know of a young woman who has stayed at the Cosmos for 7 days last October and absolutely loved it.

Thanks Jamikins! Nice to meet you and learn a little more about you. I'm in the Middle East and work for a US company. I try to get to the US to see family twice a year and then take myself to Europe twice a year as well - so I should not complain! All the best to you.

It's nice to meet all of you . You've all been so great in helping me .
I'm think the Cosmos looks to be the best choice for me . Karen that's good to hear . I haven't been in the Europe forum for awhile and it's nice to receive such good advice . |
