Help me decide what stops to make on the drive from Freiburg to Munuch
I am driving from Freiburg to Munich & then to Salzburg. I have about 3 days & would like to make stops along the way. Besides Dachau what is amazing to see on this route? I am somewhat flexile & could make small detours. The towns of Stuttgart & Augsburg have been suggested but I wanted the Fodorite take on this -where to stay, what to see & how long to spend seeing it.
After Munich I am driving to Salzburg and wondered if Kehlsteinhaus (Eagle’s Nest) was worth the stop.
Thanks for all the help I am sure to receive.

If it were me, I would probably take a route through the Black Forest via Titisee and Donaueschingen and over to Tubingen for a stay, then either a little north to Schwaebisch Hall, for something "smallish" ,or continue on to Augsburg.
Alternately, you could go as far as Donaueschingen and then head over to Lake Konstanz and see Meersburg and Lindau - maybe a better place to park yourself for all three days - before continuing to Munich and just stopping in at Augsburg on the way.
Tubingen and Meersburg are a little off the regular routes across Germany (the ones that take you through Stuttgart and Ulm, and Augsburg), so if in the area, they are worth a bit of an effort to visit.

Lake Constance or Bodensee is at the northern foot of the Alps and is bordered by Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
We have stayed in Lindau, Meersburg, and Uberlingen, preferring the last two.
One of the highlights of any trip to Bodensee is a visit to the island of Mainau, home of some of the most beautiful gardens in Europe.

Meersburg: http://travel.webshots.com/album/579...sZFBW?start=12
If you are interested, you can see the photos we took during our visits. We have been to both Meersburg and Uberlingen several times and look forward to returning again.

Meersburg is a wonderful small hillside town full of half timbered buildings that spills down to a lakeside promenade in the area of Germany with the mildest climate. You won't find that description for too many other German towns.
