Help me decide from these 2 Rome Hotels!
I have narrowed my Rome hotel search to either the Colonna Palace (112 euro) or the Hotel Adriano (110 euro). Both hotels promise me a small single room, great locations (Piazza Navona area) and continental breakfast. Reviews for these are both favorable on tripadvisor.com with a few negative comments.
Oddly, the Colonna Palace is offerd on orbitz.com at 112 euro but when I wrote and told the hotel this they said they will only offer me a single room at 130 euro a night. Which would you choose? I have to reserve this today! |
I've stayed at the Colonna Palace twice & liked it. It's not *that* near Piazza Navona, though - maybe a 15-20 minute walk. But being near the Piazza Navona isn't a plus for me. It is within walking distance of most of the sights, and next to a good bus route for the more distant sights like the Vatican. I don't know what time of year you are going, but for me, staying in the spring/summer, the hotel roof terrace was a another plus.

I am going in November during Thanksgiving week.

Piazza Navona is only one third of a mile from the Colonna Palace. I guess if it took 20 minutes you must have stopped for gelato at Giolitti.

Maybe as the crow flies - but it is via narrow, often crowded streets. And another plus point about the CP is it's near the San Crispino ice cream shop, but in the other direction - as long as that's reachable, I wouldn't go anywhere else !

Its funny how I cannot find a lot of comments about these hotels. Everyone here is usually so vocal!
(7 years ago before I originally stayed at the Hotel Due Torri it was difficult too). |
Sorry, Richard, I'm a Hotel San Carlo chick myself, can't recommend any Rome digs other than that and Casa Howard.

Colona palace is not 20 minutes walk from Piazza Navona… maybe more like 8 minuets if you are using a stick…
Also it is very central and closer to via del corso and Fontana di Trevi for instance. It is more quiet as well. I know people who stayed there, they are happy and keep returning. I am not sure about the Adriano Hotel but it certainly has a name. It is located on a narrower street then the Colona hotel which has a big empty piazza in front of the palace and a nice theatre attached to it. In short I would go for the colona palace. Also, Just behind the Colona palace, there is a very good restaurant but not known and can be hardly seen cause it is inside a narrow dead end street (but on the same block as the hotel). I forgot it’s name, if it has any… Opps I just see you have to reserve it today…. To late then. |
