Help me decide between these five Paris hotels
We are trying to decide on the hotel for our Paris trip this fall. They are all located in the St Germain or Latin Quarter area and are roughly the same price. Does anyone have personal experience with any of these:
Hotel Madison
Millesime Hotel
Villa d 'Estrees
Royal Saint-Michel
La Villa Saint-Germain-des-Pres
They all look great on their websites. We are looking for a convenient location and a comfortable, quiet room.

I've only stayed at the Millesime and we were very pleased with their superior rooms and they do a good breakfast ( extra charge) , staff was most pleasant .

The La Villa is just down the street from the Millesime and the lobby does look lovely. Very modern looking. These are both on Rue Jacob , which I find a great 3 metros, close to Louvre, D'Orsay and just a short walk to Notre dame and The Islands.

We are staying at Millesime at the end of April. I'll report back. Bear in mind that I studied responses on this board for a year and a half before picking. Madison appears to be a favorite in that area, but due to the euro, was a tad more expensive. I also considered Hotel Fleury, but repeated comments about small room size, etc, and location, made me pick Milessime. We'll see how I did.

The Madison is nice, it not overpriced. The Villa d.Estrees is also nice, but the location tends to be a bit busy at times. I'm not that familiar with the Royal Saint-Michel or La Villa St-Germain-des-Pres (the best location in the Latin Quarter), but based on their rates and locations, you may want to consider a new upscale hotel, the Esprit de Saint-Germain, 22. rue Saint-Sulplice, across from the Saint-Sulplice Church. We where there in December and it is an excellent hotel with only 31 rooms in a very nice neighborhood in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, between the Luxembourg Gardens and Boulevard Saint-Germain. Their website is not complete yet, but you can email them at: [email protected] (

I stayed at the Millesime 2 years ago and found it friendly and comfortable with a great location. They offer a package which includes breakfast, airport transportation one way and a boat ride on the Seine. I am booked to stay there the end of May but am also booked at Le Regent on Tue Dauphine. I thought it might be nice to try something new even though the Millesime was lovely. I need 2 rooms so I am looking at a hefty bill given the current exchange rate. The price difference between the 2 hotels is insignificant. Would love to hear from people familiar with both places.

I wouldn't consider La Villa to be in the Latin Quarter...It's on Rue Jacob at the corner with Rue Bonaparte..across from that is a PLUS!!!
