Hi, I have contacted a number of B&Bs in the Luberon / Provence region of France for an upcoming trip, and was hoping this forum could offer some guidance to help us choose between a few great looking options. To be honest, I don't think we can go wrong here, but availability seems extremely limited and these were the very few inns that had availability for us:

1) Blanche Fleur - Benjamin cottage

101 euro; kitchen/terrace/laundry (awesome) in a cottage but seems the most 'out of way' location. i worry this might have an antiseptic feel, as there are no pics of the cottages.

2) Mas Pomona - Grenadier Room

130 euro; private terrace, great looking place; not sure about the location here

3) La Guillone

80 euro; looks like a great location just outside of Gordes. looks like we may have a kitchenette and terrace with arbor, but not exactly sure on how that works.

4) Mas des Romarins
150 euro; ground floor room with private garden tarrace, AC, spa shower

To be honest all these prices are within the budget so we're looking for the best option, price be damned! We enjoy the "homey-ness" aspect to these B&B and we're looking to stay somewhere charming. The plan is to do day trips all day long, and retire to the hotel in the evening. We will not participate in a meal plan. We love the idea of a private terrace, as our original plan was to rent a cottage (but we're only staying 4 nights). I like the idea of having access to a kitchenette, as we tend to enjoy buying local produce at farmer's markets (and good wine) to enjoy back at the terrace. but since all these places include breakfast, having a kitchen is probably not a huge priority.

Mas des Romarins is just what I would call a hotel, I don't know why you are calling it a B&B. In fact, I wouldn't call any of those B&Bs if they are just places you rent and you don't even plan to eat there.

I know this area pretty well, we have stayed in an apartment for two weeks here.

Your first two would be my choices, they are both right outside of isle sur la sogue , a great town for shopping and eating.

The first one, if you look at the top of the page, gites, click on that and underneath there are names of the gites, click on these to see photos, looks great to me, not antiseptic at all, pretty and clean and simple.

The second one also looks wonderful, it does say that it is 20 mins from isle sur la morgue, it's hard to tell on the may, it seems closer but I'm sure they are correct, so this one is just a little farther away

I would choose one the these, you did great, they look lovely..

I don't stay in places without pictures so the third one would be out for me.;;; third and fourth seem to be very close to each other, really, this is a fine location, not that dissimilar than the ones we suggested on the other thread.

We really liked Mas Des Romarins. We had a private terrace with great views and the bath/shower was one of the nicest I've encountered anywhere in France.I do remember the room being the most expensive one, so it's probably unfair to make exact comparisons. They offer evening meals if booked 24 hours in advance. We had planned to only eat there our first night, but it was so good we ate there our second night as well. It's an easy walk to Gordes which has several restaurants.

As you've said, I really don't think you can go wrong with any of the choices.

thanks guys! just to clarify, we do plan on eating breakfast at the B&B. but we don't plan on doing "full board", which seems to be a popular offering.

OK one last time, and then I really need to make a decision. I wonder if I should be looking in any different towns or anything?

You've picked nice places in good locations...pull the plug and pick one...soon!

I like the one near Gordes...but I think susanna is right, go with whatever gives you the best vibes and "pull the plug" as I don't think you can go wrong.

We stayed at Mas des Romarins in a smallish room upstairs with a drop-dead view of Gordes. Honestly - beautiful! They serve very nice breakfast which you can have on the terrace with, again, a view of Gordes. They also served dinner a few times a week for a very reasonable add-on, which we enjoyed. Staff is very gracious and speak perfect English. There is a swimming pool and lounge chairs to chill after a day of touring. Great location also with an easy access to many perches villages of the Luberon. I have not stayed at any other places and cannot really comment. You might also like to check out Mas Perreal [sp] which is owned by one of American posters here on Fodor's and his French wife. I have not stayed there either but heard only good things.

I have stayed at Mas Pomona on a number of occasions, it is absolutely charming in all respects. The OP questioned it’s location……..it is however perfectly positioned, in the Luberon and close to both the Alpilles and the motorway, 6 kms. I have booked again for the summer.
