Help me choose a B&B in Firenze!
 

hello fellow travelers!

i am at the point where i'm cross-eyed and paralyzed by countless obsessive hours in front of booking.com, trip advisor and fodors! i'm holding the following possible rooms in florence...Please o please give me guidance!

the prices are all relatively the same, the only difference seems to be location and, in the case of Fiordaliso, a private bathroom outside of the room. Advice? or just close my eyes and pick??

They all seem pretty good. I wouldn't choose the Fiordaliso - I prefer the bathroom inside the room. The location though would be quieter I would imagine. Accommodation opposite the Duomo is in the "thick of it". I wonder if the GIOVANNI FATTORI room is still available. I have a decided preference for rooms with balconies or terraces.

I like the location of Fiordaliso (a block or so from all the upscale shopping streets), but it doesn't list AC and I really don't like a bathroom out in the hall.

Cavour 10 doesn't list info about floor, elevator and doesn't seem to have wi-fi if that is important to you. I don't like the location as much as the others.

The last thing you may need is a suggestion of another place, but we really enjoyed our stay at Casa dei Tintori. It's near Santa Croce, which we felt was a very convenient location, but quiet. The hosts were very helpful and kind, and served a wonderful breakfast. Their one single room looks to be in your price range.

to add one more to the mix. I just booked Hotel Dali which has great reviews, private bathroom and is only $80Euro double . It looks great

live42day: you definitely had me back to the computer, researching Hotel Dali. looks pretty good, but there's a reason it's so cheap: NO air conditioning. i know that when we'll be there in two weeks, the forecast is for the high 80s...so, thanks, great suggetion, but we're taking the A/C.

oh.....we are there in late september so probably (hopefully) wont need it. Sorry, good luck.

Late September you probably won't need it and it might be turned off by then in small hotels/B&B's. I don't care for the location of Hotel Dali. It's outside the pedestrian area. Further from everything than all the others you listed.

cherylb - What are looking for and budget? I've stayed at Alloro B&B between the train station and the Duomo. It has AC. I've also stayed in an apartment in the Oltarno, but it may be further from the center than you would want (about a 15 minute walk from the train station or the center).

You certainly have it down to a specific location. What are the actual differences?

i know it doesn't help you choose, but we stayed at Hotel Scoti in December.

Didn't need AC then, so don't actually know, but in a wonderful historic building and location, right on Via Tornabuoni - the upscale, high class shopping street in Firenze. Absolutely brilliant location:

tuscanlifeedit: well...it's really a coin toss, but i'm paralyzed by this point. i've sent an email asking if each room has a view. the cost is $26 difference. i've noticed that a florence view has a higher rating. i've been hoping that a fodorite might have stayed at one or the other and can put me out of this delicious misery!

were you implying that my choice of location, location, location might be in error?

Of your two finalists, I think the 2nd one (B&B Firenze) is much more charming than the first. And I like the toiletries!

If this means anything re location--I spent a month in Florence in 2009, south of the Arno about 5 minutes down from the Ponte Vecchio. I walked virtually everywhere in the whole city--never took a bus except to leave town. It is really a small mostly flat city and very enjoyable to walk. So I say take the prettiest room.
