karen - you will likely get much better response if you start a new thread with a better title. "help me choose???" could be asking anything about ANYWHERE in Europe.

Try something like "Amsterdam hotels - Pulitzer, Canal House, Bridge Hotel... which one?"

Hi Karen, if you do a search on each of your 3 listed hotels, you'll find many comments and also other recommendations.

It appears to me that while all your choices are good, alot of people seem to like Hotel Ambassade. You may want to research this hotel further.

I would suggest that you check out the Rokin Hotel....it is centrally located, clean and inexpensive, friendly staff and nice breakfast. It also has two bedroom quarter in their annex building that might be perfect for your needs.
enjoy the trip...I will be back in Amsterdam in early October...I simply love the place and the people.

My husband just returned from a trip to Amsterdam. We stayed at The Canal House and absolutely loved it! We had a room on the top floor that overlooked the canal -- very romantic. It felt like we were stayiong at the home of a friend (hodgepodge of furishings, breakfasts in a beautiful ballrom overlooking the garden -- We would go back in a heartbeat if we could! Also the location in the Jordaan area is great -- around the corner from the Anne Frank house and near lots of quaint cafes and top restaurants.

definitely the Pulitzer! Location, authenticity, canal in front of the hotel, old buildings, local flavour, everything, do it!
have fun...

Wow, you're really all over the price map with both the Pulitzer and Bridge Hotel. The Pulitzer is a 4 star hotel (part of the Starwood (Sheraton) chain, so you may get discounts with frequent flier miles).

by far the best place is the Grand, laid back but five star, excellent location. go to freddy's bar at the hotel l'europe and ask for Gert the bartender, tell em the restaurant owner from phoenix said hey!

Karen,
We stayed at the Canal House Hotel last summer for our honeymoon and loved it. I can't compare it with the other two hotels you mentioned as I'm not familiar with them. We found the Canal House to be very charming in decor, comfortable, immaculate, and in a great location (the beautiful Jordaan area, close to the Westerkirk, Anne Frank House, and restaurants). There's no TV in the rooms - this was fine with us, but it may bother some people.
