Help! Krakow - Torn between Polonia Hotel and Pollera? Recommendations?
Also, the Wawel-tourist ... all are pricing about the same - we are there for 1 night 2 days ... thanks for any advice!

To lilipad.
Hotel Polera is a very good choice. Very good breakfast, close to train, close to all the churches and the square The castle is not far away. They have tours in polish unless you have an english tour arranged. Look out for school group outings. Not a happy idea. Good luck |
For an inexpensive, convenient location the Polonia was very nice. I would not buy the breakfast tickets. The hotel staff was nice and you are near both the train station and the gates to the old city. I met some other Americans who were living in Warsaw and stay there often.

Hi, Lili,
I can't help you much, but I faced the same choice for an upcoming summer trip, and I chose the Pollera because the location is much closer to the old square. Since you will be there for such a short time, proximity to the sights might be a consideration? They both look like good choices. Have a great trip, and let me know if you find a good restaurant! Our trip isn't until June. |
Of the two, I would choose the Pollera over the Polonia. It is a smaller hotel on a side street within the walls, and only 3 short blocks to the main square. The Polonia is outside the walls on a very busy thoroughfare.
The walking distance between the two hotels is about 5 minutes, if that. At the Pollera, a very good buffet breakfast is included in the price. That eliminates the problem of paying extra for breakfast tickets. You need to be aware that there is no elevator at the Pollera, so ask for a room on the 1st floor (what is known as the 2nd floor in the USA). |
