HELP! Is it true that the Uffuzi is booked for the whole month of May?

I was going to book the Uffizi by phone for May 28th or 29th when we arrive in Italy on May 13th however I have heard that there are no reservations left. I can't call today as the office in Italy is closed now (Eastern Standard Time here) and I'm in a bit of a panic! Does anyone know?

If that is the case, then you could always try contacting your hotel - they can often get tickets when your average punter can't.

Lily, don't tell me you're experiencing Stendahl's Syndrome before you even get to Florence? O

The number of reservations offered is limited. I believe when that quota is reached you have no choice but to stand in line. Be patient and call early tomorrow morning.

yes, i got the "we're fully booked" speech as well. but i really am starting to think that this is only for advanced reservations and not the museum itself.

btw, Lily check the rail strike situation for the 13th if you need to.

Yes, it's only for advance reservations, but if you don't have an advance reservation you likely face hours and hours of waiting outside. I saw people waiting in a long lineup back in January, and was so happy to have an advance reservation.

Lily,

In anticipation that your next question may be "what is phone no. to call from reservations"? .... here is similar topic from another thread in which you'll find that info > > >
booked reservations at the Uffizi during the middle of May >>> http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34611210

Thanks for the responses. I called first thing this morning and the Uffuzi is booked until June 4th. Of course, you can still get in the museum but only by waiting in line. Any tips on the best time to wait in line? I feel so foolish having left this reservation this long as I'm usually quite organized. And I do hate to wait in line!!! Can't believe we may have to see David on another trip.

Did you ask your hotel whether they can help? That sometimes does the trick.

Thank you so much for that wonderful laugh. This board is so often a great source for innocent humor.

When I did stand in line, getting there one-hour before the museum opens was the least painless. These days, who knows.

I now have reservations for the Uffuzi and the Accademia through www.florenceart.it although at twice the cost of usual entry. So I will see David and at the Accademia (thanks Kate). We're staying in a small B&B not a hotel so I didn't check with them for reservations. I think I'm getting very rattled (and very excited) as we're leaving tomorrow. Thanks everyone for your help.

It's been a couple of years since we were last in Florence, but we had no trouble getting into the Uffizi after 6 or 7 p.m. (open until 11 p.m. when we were there). No lines, no crowds inside.
