Help in Stockholm

We are a family of five flying in to Nykoping with an 8 hour layover (by design). We would like to take a train into Stockholm and back and see maybe one thing. I have Swedish blood and would appreciate the one thing to see during this layover. Tox a mica! or however they spell that!

See if the Wasa is to your liking: www.greatoceanliners.net/wasa.html

I'm all Swedish blood...-:)...and second the Vasa Museum. Do a little research before so you understand the history. You'd also probably have time to stroll thru Gamla Stan.

I also vote for the Wasa and if enough time Gamla Stan. You could have a nice lunch there.

Gamla Stan, Royal Palace and Town Hall (even if only from the outside).

I'd stroll around the old town.

We went to the Vasa Museum, which was interesting, but I think I would be disappointed if that was the only thing I saw in Stockholm. It is very famous though and my husband loved it. I think most kids love it, but mine thought it only ok.

(Kids (13 and 11 year old boys) and I much preferred a ferry ride to Vaxholm Fastnings Museum (sp?), but that may take too much.)

Gamla Stan or, if you have time, a canal cruise. Stockholm is absolutely beautiful and the waterways are a big part of that. if time is short, I wouldn't spend it in a museum. Another alternative might be the open air museum, Skansen. Some people say it's hokey but I thought it was well done, and really liked it. you know the k in Nykoping is sounded as a sh?
