Help in Paris to find something specific (school book)

Where might I find some old school books for children? I'm looking for reading and handwriting books. I figured I might find them in the flea market, but which one?

Is there any reason they must be old? Are you tracking down something specific in old reading and writing books?
I would go to Shakespeare & Co., and ask them. They deal in old and new books and may be able to send you in the right direction.

They don't have to be old, but used.

I enjoyed Shakespeare & Co last time we went, so a visit again would be perfect! Thanks

Just go to a children's bookstore. I recommend Gibert Jeune right almost at the St Michel metro stop. That's my favorite bookstore in Paris, anyway, probably (not that particular branch which has more textbooks and kids' stuff, but the one up the bd a bit, Gibert Joseph which I think is related). I know they carry used books because I just bought a couple when I was there a few weeks ago, and most bookstores do not. Their branch at 5 place St Michel is the "general" one and papeterie. Also check out Gibert Joseph up bd St Michel a block or two, as they have a children's section, also.

I didn't think Shakespeare & Co had French books, I thought that was their whole point -- to have English books, but I might be wrong.

oh, if you really want school textbooks, per se, the branch of Gibert Jeune around the corner on the quai is the one for that, I believe.

Thanks Christina, that sounds like just the place.

There is a shop on rue St. Paul (right side as you walk north toward the Marais) that sells old everything - including schoolbooks, copy books, stickers, ribbon, etc. I purchased a book there in 2008. I am sorry that I don't remember the name but it is a real Ali Baba's cave and worth a look!
