Help! I need advice on what musical to see in London.

I live in NYC and as a result am fortunate to see many shows and musicals. Lion King is by far the most stunning visual show I've ever seen. I don't know if it is playing now in London, but Aida was a beautiful show as well. Les Mis is wonderful, but the visuals of the other two are more spectacular. Also, I don't know where you live, but if you are in the D.C. area, there is a fantastic exhibit at the National Museum of Women in the Arts of Julie Taymor's work, (designer of sets and costumes for Lion King), that you will appreciate.

First choice: Les Miserables of course. Classic story and music! Check out who's singing, though. Read the book beforehand if you can.

Second choice: Notre Dame de Paris- it's not a typical musical, it's more concert-style and has quite modern music. Not to everyone's tastes, but I loved it. Ditto about the book; skip the tedious parts if you're impatient.

I have seen all of them, and if you are a visual person, Lion King is your best choice. The costumes will amaze you. This is one of the most visually stunning pieces you will ever see.

Les Miserables does have some fascinating sets, and of course the best plot and music of all mentioned. I would sacrifice the spectacle of the Lion King for this because it is a much richer theatre experience.

We are going this summer and got tickets already for Lion King.....I was just going to suggest you call the box office directly, which is what I did, for tickets and save a hefty surcharge that the ticket brokers charge. Also, the ticket brokers lead you to believe the tickets are sold out, thus charging more. I had no problem getting very good seats for the night I wanted.

Hi Chris, saw Lion King and Witches recently in London. I thought the visual display in TLK was superb, but my husband and I like Witches better. It was more in the "classic musical" vein. I absolutely loved the Drury Lane theater that Witches was in.... fab place with great seats. But did not see the famed ghosties that they supposedly have, however... Anyone else? I think either would fulfill your visual requirements, IMHO. Judy

Just wanted to say the Buddy is great-the Buddy Holly story. We got tickets for it at the Leicester Sq. 1/2 price ticket booth last time we were there.
Will prob. see it AGAIN this summer since we've seen most everything else in LA or London. But really, Buddy is a great show!

DEFINITELY go see Buddy! It is really fun and they manage to make the audience part of the act. I saw it a long time ago when I was in London and I was glad to hear that it's still running-- that says alot about how good it is. I may even go again when I got back next month!

Years ago I saw Les Mis and till then i still remember the way it touched my heart so vividly, as if i just saw it yesterday. It was not as slick or spectacular as Phantom, but it was an experience i'll never forget.
