HELP I CAN'T REPLY

HEY OUT THERE!!!! - your system is screwed up! I tried to reply and after typing inthe message I got caught in a loop on the registration page.

StCirq Jan 27th, 2003 03:55 PM

Yes, having to log in every time you respond to a post - and sometimes three or four times before it " takes" - is rather tiresome. I daresay they still have some bugs in the new system. I'm sure they'll get it straightened out soon.

ahussey Jan 27th, 2003 04:02 PM

I did not have to log in again to post this. In fact if I don't log out, when I come to F the next time it remembers that I am logged in. It does seem to be a little flacky now. The beta version worked fine but there was a lot less traffic.
Patrick Jan 27th, 2003 04:07 PM

I'm getting very frustrated, but will give the new system a chance. I have typed out messages as many as four times before it would "take". Yet I do like not having to log in each time -- it remembers me. And I love not having to type my name and email address each time. Here's hoping they get it straightened out soon.

Julie Jan 27th, 2003 04:30 PM

It's taken me five tries to post this response. I'm also getting frustrated. I really hope they get these glitches ironed out soon.

Rich Jan 27th, 2003 04:47 PM

Let's give it another go . . .

Rich

Rich Jan 27th, 2003 04:53 PM
I think I see a pattern . . If I click on the top "Reply to this message" I get caught in a registration loop . . If I click on the bottom one, it seems to work fine . . looks like some inconsistent links?

Good Luck . . Rich

icithecat Jan 27th, 2003 05:45 PM

AAAAck.

The logging in/out is a pain.
It must be failing to recognise a registered name (sometimes).

icithecat Jan 27th, 2003 05:51 PM

Even though the header reads welcome icithecat when it tries to verify my name for a post it fails and returns me to the registration/login screen.

I hit back and post a few times until it takes. Then I have to hit the Europe link because there are no messages on the left.

danny_mangin Jan 27th, 2003 06:00 PM

Hello All --

We've got someone looking into this problem. Sorry for the problems this (I hope) little bug is causing.

Yours truly,

Danny Mangin
Editorial Director
Fodors.com
Patrick Jan 27th, 2003 06:13 PM

I can't figure out where I stand now. After being told a dozen or more times that my password was incorrect (although it was correct all day today) I finally clicked the "forgot my password" and now have been emailed a new one. But it doesn't seem to help either.

cmt Jan 27th, 2003 06:14 PM

Just testing. It looks like I'm still logged in. I didn't even think I'd posted from this computer today.

icithecat Jan 27th, 2003 06:19 PM

Danny is burnng the midnight oil to solve the problem. Thanks Danny.
cmt
The computer is remembering your name from a cookie.

icithecat Jan 27th, 2003 06:21 PM

It was a bug free reply last time.

icithecat Jan 27th, 2003 06:21 PM

And that. Dare we hope?

StCirq Jan 27th, 2003 06:32 PM

I hope someone's on the ball because it's been horribly frustrating this evening to try to answer questions. Really awful.

Flyboy Jan 27th, 2003 06:33 PM

Glory be! It actually worked on one try that time!

Holly_uncasdewar Jan 27th, 2003 06:37 PM

Trying to post yet one more time!

Amy Jan 27th, 2003 06:40 PM

Okay, everybody join in on a chorus of the Bob the Builder song:
"Can we fix it?
Yes we can!"

(You go, Danny)

jahoulih Jan 27th, 2003 06:42 PM

Testing ...

lynlor Jan 27th, 2003 06:50 PM

There are more posts out there in Fodorland....I got a brief glimpse of them yesterday.....poof.....gone away.

icithecat Jan 27th, 2003 06:58 PM

Amy.
Can you enlighten us on this song 'Bob the Builder'?

Is this like the book 'The Little Steamshovel That Could?

A few refrains would suffice.

rex Jan 27th, 2003 06:59 PM

I've been out of town using one or more computers elsewhere for several days. And just got home and it logged me on automatically. So it seems like it's working to me.
Patrick Jan 27th, 2003 06:59 PM

I apologize for being a whiner today. I really do appreciate the efforts Danny and others. It has just been so frustrating typing messages three or four times before getting them to post and then having the site keep telling me my registration was no good.
Afraid I've filled the Fodors mailbox with messages today complaining and asking how to overcome the problems!

But you know what? So far I haven't missed the nasty posts or the so-called attempts at humor that may have now disappeared. Some may call the new board boring -- I call it more travel related!

Amy Jan 27th, 2003 07:05 PM

icithecat! You must not have enough two year olds in your life!
Because of the copyright thingy, I shall refer you to the website, http://www.hitentertainment.com/bobthebuilder/ where you can hear the whole uplifting tune and see Bob and Wendy and the various named pieces of construction equipment. Enjoy!

icithecat Jan 27th, 2003 07:09 PM

Amy.
I have three two year olds in my life, but they all have ears on the top of their heads and more hair (hopefully) than yours.

John Jan 27th, 2003 07:16 PM

FINALLY I atleast got to the Poat a reply page----now let's see if it actually post

Danie Jan 27th, 2003 07:21 PM

It worked for me on the first try. Hope the bug is fixed

Lucy_of_Oz Jan 27th, 2003 07:22 PM

I'm loving that it 'remembers' me from when when I registered the other day & not having to log in & out each time - great improvement!

andy Jan 27th, 2003 07:41 PM

I have NOT been able to post all nite- Finally got my name verified but still when I write a reply and click POST- it does not post-

Sure hope this one works as this is the 4th time I have tried-

VERY FRuSTRATING!!

JoeyJoJoJr_Shabadoo Jan 28th, 2003 04:46 AM

There were some problems yesterday morning but it seems to be working now.

ParadiseLost Jan 28th, 2003 10:10 AM

Test Also: When I tried to respond to another post I kept getting the "You must enter a valid e-mail address". Let's see if this hopefully works:). Regards, Walter

fiona Jan 28th, 2003 10:21 AM

I have just had a post which did not "take" the first time. However, by using the "back" arrow I retrieved my post and resent it, successfully.

fiona Jan 28th, 2003 10:23 AM

unbelievable!
I had to follow my own advice to post!(see post immediately before this one!)

Registered Jan 28th, 2003 10:59 AM

Couldn't post last night.
Trying again.

Elizabeth_S Jan 28th, 2003 12:38 PM

I just made a reply to a post only to have it disappear when I hit "post my reply". Very frustrating.

TESTING
