Although I am open for opinions, I think the Relais de Louvre is about as good as i will get!

Richardab, I think you did well with Relais du Louvre. I've stayed there three times (most recent was over 2 years ago, however)and would recommend it. The single rooms are small but were nicely decorated and comfortable, the staff was very helpful and the hotel is in a great location. It's equidistant from Pont Neuf and Rue de Rivoli metro stops.

Richardab, pls. let us know how it was at Relais du Louvre. I'm planning on staying there next summer. I chose it because of the reasons Judy mentions-only down the street from La Samaritaine too!

We stayed at the Hotel Familia last April and it was fine- smallish room but as long as it's clean we're not picky. Plus it includes breakfast.

richardab,

checkout www.lastminute.com. They are a very reliable and even scheap resource and offer different European webpages (with sighltly differing offers, so chances are pretty good that you are going to succeed somewhere!.
Good luck and a great trip after all!

Congratulations, Richardab!! Hope you have a great time in Paris. I'm always continually amazed at how fast you can get great advice. You found your hotel on short notice in less than a day!

Kudos to everyone!!!!

Well, this is my 7th trip to Paris and I knew where I wanted to look. I really wanted to stay in either the Britannique, Axial Beaubourg or Jeanne d'arc but they were either all booked or too expensive.

Try hotel de l'esprance. We really liked it last time and they had a twin available at 89 a few weeks ago. Area was very nice.

We opted for an apartment. Enjoy.
