Here's another idea:

Have you checked out the possibility of taking a bus from Greve or perhaps Castellina itself? I'm think there are buses that travel that route that would drop you off in the heart of Florence -- but how early they leave I'm not sure. Or how late they run if your tour goes all day.

But if the schedule works, it would MUCH simpler. You could buy the bus ticket in advance and scope out where you are going to park the car near the bus stop. Might be cheaper too once you factor in gas and parking.

Sergio (at Il Cellese) said we would leave from Poggibonsi. By the time we drove to Poggibonsi and took the bus it would be almost 2 hrs, but might be more relaxed.
