HELP- Hotel Portoghesi, Due Torri or Mozart?
 

My family is going to Rome soon, and we have this hotel choice to make. All have rooms, and the rates are about the same. We've asked for family rooms or suites: Portoghesi says they have a suite with a separate sofa bed sleeping area, Due Torri says they have a small, windowless room with 2 signle sofa beds connected to a regular double and Mozart says they have connecting doubles. Locations seem comparable, so it comes down to this - are the people at Portoghesi as rude, and the rooms as small, as some on this site suggest? Is the Due Torri ok - there's precious little on their website? And I haven't seen anything about teh Mozart - does anyone have any feedback? Thank you!!!!!

I have stayed at the Due Torri and had one of those suites for one night. Its like a regular room with a small hall and a small private room on the side with the sofa bed. Our room had a small window in the second room and reg windows in the main room. This is not very big. The Due Torri is a great hotel in a good location. Have you considered just getting 2 rooms? These suite type rooms in Europe do not compare with similar type rooms in the USA. I would also avoid the Portoghesi, too many bad reviews. I stayed at the Portoghesi in June 2000 and had a very positive experience. The desk clerk saved my group from an irate taxi driver who was demanding a hugely inflated fare. Our room was a triple, and was actually one bedroom with a double bed and an adjoining room with a sofa bed. Very clean, great tile bathroom and I loved the rooftop terrace breakfast area. Everyone we encountered at the Portoghesi was helpful, and the location is wonderful.

If you check out this site you will find that the Portoghesi has a reputation of being a nice place but the management is most difficult. <BR><BR>I do not know this first-hand, but it has been written here several times.<BR>

The owners of Due Torri also own the Fontanella Borghese which may have a room to your liking. Rates are very slightly higher than the Due Torri. The Fontanella Borghese is a bit closer to the Spanish Steps than the Due Torri.

Stayed at Due Torri last summer. Although I did not stay in one of their family rooms or suites, it was a nice,small boutique hotel. The service was lovely and the location is excellent. I thought the price was exceptional for the value.<BR>I had sent out some laundry ( a harrowing experience) and the bag and several other items had been lost. Two days after arriving home the staff from Due Torri had sent on my things and a lovely note inside the laundry bag.

Hi, I have stayed at the Due Torre 3 times in the last two years. A great little neighbor hood hotel. The staff is very nice, remembering me each visit!! Can be a little noisy in the morning. But good, get up early and go! Ciao!
