HELP - Hogmanay lodging

My boyfriend and I are off to Glasgow for Christmas to visit his family, and he wants me to experience Hogmanay. I've spent the last two hours trying to find accommodations online. I can't find a thing... we really only want to stay one night someplace moderately priced. Advice? Thoughts? Past experiences? Thanks very much!

In what part of Scotland do you want to stay? If you mean Edinburgh, you may have a difficult time finding a place that will book for only one night at New Years.

Now if you want to go to some more remote area you might find something - but many places put together packages w/ room, party, food, etc and it drives up the rates.

Hello BMD,

Sorry I can't help you w/accommodations but wanted to let you know that the Proclaimers are scheduled to top the bill at Glasgow's Hogmanay in George Square. Passes for the party will be on sale from 15 November.

Good luck.

bmd, if you are in Scotland - anywhere in Scotland - you will experience Hogmanay. If you're talking about one of the commercial parties which are put on in Edinburgh and now Glasgow, then Janis is right. Also, in Edinburgh, a lot of the fun things take place on the days before Hogmanay.

I think you may have to phone the Edinburgh Tourist office for this one. Whilst accomodation will be near impossible to find, if you don't mind where you stay they may be able to put you in touch will smaller B&Bs that you won't find on the web - such as homes where they let out just one room.
