I need help fast. Traveling on 15 day Eurail pass. What is the cheapest way to book these reservation fees? France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy? HELP Leave on Jun 17 10

In Europe at the train stations.

I heard it was better to book in advance or fees were higher?

No - it's exactly the opposite. For point to point tickets it can pay to buy in advance for discounts - but since you've already spend so much on a pass - save and get the reservations when you get to Europe.

Will I wait in long lines to do this or can I do it on the train when conductor comes around? I have a 1st class eurail?

If not on train what it easiest and fastest way to do this?

I think the point is the reservation fee never changes. Ticket fees can be different in price at different times, but the reservation fees never are.

You cannot do it on the train because you aren't allowed on the train without a reservation on some trains. You have to have an assigned seat, where do you think you'll go? Yes, I know many trains have empty seats, but you can't count on that. If a reservation is required, a reservation means it is done in advance by definition of what a reservation is. Otherwise it would just be a fee. You can be fined if you go on board and just take a seat and don't have one -- if it's compulsory, in any case. Also, railpass holder aren't allowed just any seat, they may be limited.

You can do it on the DB website for Germany, I think you click on "reservation without ticket" or something, after you choose your particular train you want. In France, you have to do it at the station or some SNCF outlet. YOu can do it at a machine, not a ticket window, if you know how to use them and have a credit card it will accept.
