Buy the transportation pass for how many days you are going to be there. Be sure to take the buses around to see the sites. You can hop on and off the buses at different sites, which will save you some walking. You should take some small photos for the passes.

Don't worry about walking. Just set yourself down a a wonderful sidewalk cafe table and watch Paris go by. Let your 18 year olds search out the area while you sip a great cafe crem and munch on a crossant and then move on to another area! There is bound to be a cafe close to any landmark you wish to see.

Hi Grandma,

If walking is a problem I would suggest seeing some of Paris’s smaller sights; those that do not involve a lot of walking. My list is in addition to what has already been mentioned:
Rodin Museum (sculpture) – there’s also a beautiful garden with café on the site.
Ste-Chappelle – beautifully painted in the lower chapel; stainglass in the upper chapel. Mosque
Pantheon
Cluny (museum of the middle ages)
Opera Garnier
There are many churches you can visit which involve limited walking.
Plan a list of things you want to see and grab cabs to get from one point to another. You’ll be able to do quite a bit of sightseeing without trouble.

adrienne

bus travel will serve you well. while sitting let the kids roam. a weekly bus pass will be good since there is no transfer system with the ten pack tickets. you might invest in a pair of two way radios to coordinate activities. if you do not have a location to stay yet, pick one with a metro and bus line nexus. rue cler area has two bus lines, one of which goes to the Arc de Triomphe and a metro stop (ecole militaire). that way you don't have a substantial walk to your hotel when you get off the bus or metro. enjoy your trip.

I wonder if museums have wheelchairs? Perhaps you can see things from buses?

Do not take offense, but can you lose some weight? Even losing 5 kg. (10 pounds) helps. If you can't walk because of a bad hip, weight loss will still help.
