Help getting to Amsterdam

I will be in Paris for a couple of days, and would like to take a train to Amsterdam for a night. In Rick Steve's book, he says you can get there by train. Are the only trains the Eurorails? Are there other cheaper trains to take? I am a student going to Britain to study, and am on a budget. Has anyone taken a bus from Paris to Amsterdam and how long does that take? Thanks!

There are no "Eurorails", just the national rails of the various countries. (OK there's Thalys...) A 2nd class ticket Paris to Amsterdam is about $100. Don't know about bus prices.

From French Rail Sncf.com, the regular fare is 92.8 euro. But if you are under 26,the reduced fare is 56.6 euro.

There are some really cheap flights from U.K. to Amsterdam offered by no-frill airlines, some as less as 30 pounds last time I checked.

Check out www.eurolines.com for bus information (I tried to look it up for you but the website was not working well, so keep trying). It's definitely cheaper than the train BUT it takes longer and the bus stations aren't as conveniently located as the train stations.
