Help for rail travel in Switzerland

I am in need of suggestions for rail travel from Geneva to Montreux to Grindelwald to Zurich in October. We will be flying from London to Geneva, then on to Montreux via rail. Is the train station in Geneva close to the airport? Any suggestions will be appreciated!

There is a train station at the airport in Geneva.
http://www.sbb.ch/en/station-service...-aeroport.html

You can use the sbb website to identify routes, times, etc.

Most scenic train itinerary:
GVA - Montreux - Gstaad - Grindelwald - Meiringen - Lucerne - ZRH.
In oder to get this itinerary by using the SBB timetable, enter
GVA - Grindelwald via Gstaad
Grindelwald - ZRH via Sarnen

neckervd, is this itinerary the Golden Pass? I will most likely be using Rail Europe for booking instead of SBB because it is easier for me to understand!

Yes, it's the Golden Pass itinerary.
Standard fares:
GVA airport - Montreux: standard fare 34 CHF/38 USD
Montreux - Golden Pass - Grindelwald: standard fare 64 CHF/72 USD
Standard fare tickets can be bought at any Swiss railway station (Geneva airport and Montreux too) up to a few minutes prior to the train departure.
You may also be interested in supersaver tickets with up to 50 (but usually only 20-30) per cent reduction, available in the web not earlier than 2 weeks in advance.

I am really confused about the rail station in Geneva. It seems there is a station adjoining the airport that goes only to Montreux; however, there is also a rail station in city center. Am I correct that the station at the airport is for Montreux?

Go to the sbb website "online timetable", enter "geneva airport" as your starting point and "montreux" as your destination. Enter the date and time you want to travel. Once your options appear, you can click on a + sign in the left margin to show more information about any particular route. One option is "show intermediate stops." The routes I checked that go from Geneva's airport to Montreux all stop in Geneva, but I just checked a few. If you play around with that website, you'll learn all sorts of things!

You can get to Montreux from the either station.
If you look at Geneve Airport - Montreux trains at www.sbb.ch, and hit "show intermediate stops," you will find that all the trains originating from the Geneve airport also stop in Geneve as a first stop about 10 minutes later.

Thanks for your help about the Geneva airport. Can anyone identify the website that tells about sending your luggage ahead by train in Switzerland?

Thanks for your help re the Geneva airport. It helps! Can anyone tell me what the website is that has to do with sending your luggage ahead from one town to another so that we would not have to concern ourselves with suitcases on the train?
