help for hotel accomodations in Italy
I will be travelling with two teenage daughters to Italy late May for two weeks.
What hotels would you recommend in Rome, Venice, Florence and possible another city close to Florence. Location is an important factor but cleanliness is also. I would like to stay around $250 to $275 a night. Thank you for your help. |
We stayed in quad at these hotels:
Rome - Santa Chiara, a 2 room suite, 3*. FLorence - Hotel Casci, 1 large room, 2* Venice - Hotel FLora, 1 large room with 1 1/2 bathrooms, 3* ALl these hotels were clean, quiet and conveniently located and I think in your price range. They also included breakfast. |
I second two of those hotels.
The Santa Chiara in Rome is an excellent value imo, fantastic location, all usual services and amenities, great breakfast buffet included. Another Rome hotel that is always praised here is the del Senato. I also love the Flora in Venice. Excellent location, continental breakfast only. Rooms vary in size, so make sure they are giving you a larger one if you book there. For your price range, you have lots of choices, and cleanliness should be a given. I have files on your cities; if you'd like to see them, email me at [email protected] |
I agree with Elaine about the Hotel Flora in Venice--we were there with our teenage daughter and we all really loved it.
In Florence we loved Hotel Villa Bellevedere. It was a bit out of town, so if you have a car it is really handy, (free parking), but it's not that far from the city center (we even walked it a few times). The rooms were large and comfortable, the views beautiful, the owners very gracious (true at Hotel Flora as well), and they have a lovely garden and pool and a great St. Bernard. (We're doglovers.) Also, there was a restaurant, but I can't remember how the food was (sorry). |
We took our teenage girls to Florence and Venice this summer. In florence we had 2 rooms at the Cimatori Guest House. I highly recommend it.
http://www.cimatori.it/english.html In Venice, we stayed at the Hotel Bernardi. We had a suite with 2 large bedrooms that were connected & shared a bath in the annex, around the corner from the main hotel. We loved it there. http://www.hotelbernardi.com/en/hotel.html I think they are both in your price range. |
We travelled a year ago (my mother, sister and I). Stayed at Hotel Campiello in Venice(E190), in the Castello near San Marco. Relais Uffizi in Florence(E210), right outside Piazza Signorina. Hotel Due Torre in Rome(230), near the Piazza Navona. All of them were very nice, clean and near the major sights. For your price range, you could probably find even nicer places in these same areas.
